In 1995, Dwayne suffered a back injury which cost him a place in the NFL. He then signed a 3 year deal with the Canadian League but left after a year to pursue a career in wrestling. He made his wrestling debut in the USWA under the name Flex Kavanah where he won the tag team championship with Brett Sawyer. In 1996, Dwayne joined the WWE and became Rocky Maivia where he joined a group known as "The Nation of Domination" and turned heel. Rocky eventually took over leadership of the "Nation" and began taking the persona of The Rock. After the "Nation" split, The Rock joined another elite group of wrestlers known as the "Corporation" and began a memorable feud with Steve Austin. Soon the Rock was kicked out of the "Corporation". Rick Reilly does a remarkable job on this praising article on Magic. Reilly talks about how fit magic is. "He can bench 325 pounds. Weighing 245, he's about 20 pounds heavier than he was in his prime, but now he's ripped." He is still playing basketball in different celebrity appearances, and plays quite well in them although he is way older than everyone there. What really impressed me the most about Magic is influence as a black businessman. Reilly showed me, as well as America, a different side of Magic that is not seen on Sports Center. "He owns five Starbucks and has plans to open 10 more, nearly all of them in black neighborhoods, including one in Crenshaw and one in Harlem." Magic is willing to put money into the ghettos when other white investors are not. He owns many different businesses, from a TV company to a bank. What is truly amazing is he hires all black people to build and work his businesses. "Magic feels like many black athletes forget where they came from, I try not to." When I read this I was really stunned. He made a fortune taking risks that many other people won't try. He is living his life to the fullest and using his HIV experience to educate great number of people.

That season he earned a First Team All-AFC, led the AFC in touchdown passes, and earned the Broncos offensive MVP. In 1974, he led the NFL in yards per pass attempt with 8.1 yards. In 1975, he played his final season and retired. He became the Broncos quarterback coach for the 1976 season, then retired from that right after. Charles was african american and Dorothy was white. In the 1960s marriage of separate races was frowned upon but they loved each other and made it work. When Derek was still a small child, Charles moved the family to Kalamazoo, Michigan. This is where practically Dereks whole childhood took place.

When Johnson was a Vice President, he was the head of the space program. He also worked to push for equalities amongst everyone. He felt that every individual should be equal and have an equal opportunity. Not many other presidents felt the same way about equal opportunities. After President Kennedy was assassinated, Johnson had to step up to the plate and take control. He handled the situations with mass calmness because he knew what he had to do. Sure the assassination came as a surprise to America and Johnson, but distant measure had to be taken and Lyndon B. Johnson became the United States President on November 22, 1963 (November 22, 1963: Death of the President).

The Rock was a football player before he went into wrestling. He had his dreams turned down when he wasn't drafted; this set back didn't stop him, but propelled him to pursue a career he truly loves, wrestling. This was astonishing to me when I found out because I can relate this experience to my current life situation. I worked really hard running track in high school, but wasn't recruited to run in college, so I turned my focus to computers, as it is my first love. Watching The Rock at his debut, so full of life, would make me feel like anything is possible. Dwayne has a way of making people feel like they can overcome any obstacle in their life.
