High School Dropouts Have you ever wondered why there are so many teens in the United States dropping out of high school, even though they are United States citizens and have weigh more opportunities than immigrants? Well in the beginning before I started researching I thought that students would drop out because they were careless and lazy. Well my opinion changed at the end of my research because not everyone drops out of high school because they are lazy or careless but because they have reasons for which they need to drop out. What caused me to change my opinion about high school dropouts are their important and meaningful reasons. Several of the following examples came from the previous research that I accomplished the last a couple of months. The research will back up that the cause of students dropping out because of important reasons and not just people being lazy or careless. A major issue is the Academic Struggles; there are students who struggle with classes and earn a low GPA. For example, in the article it states “Some high school students don 't want to risk failing, which could mean summer school or another year of high school.” When one sees that their GPA is dropping they end up giving up slowly but surely, that is when they have to start getting advice from others and need to start being pushed by their parents more. Most students end up quitting and just find the “easy” way out which is to work at a fast food restaurant or a local store which would be a student wanting conformity. Another thing that they can do is receive the tutoring that is being offered at their school which might help the students catch up and not drop out.
