Driving can be a nerve-wracking and scary experience at times, especially as a new driver. I can recall so many instances when I felt my heart drop and butterflies overcoming my stomach while I was behind the wheel. A particular instance that I will never forget is when I was involved into my first auto accident on March 7, 2016. This was probably the most traumatizing day I had ever had in my life. I can still recall details of that day as if it was yesterday. It was a cold, breezy day and the wind was so strong it sounded as if it was screaming. A numerous number of people were waiting, all having a look of annoyance on their faces due to the wait. The technicians were running around the nail salon rushing from one client to the next. All I kept thinking to myself was how much this place resembled a zoo. The lady sitting next to me kept huffing and puffing because she was so frustrated .She looked like she was in her mid-thirties and had a baby girl with her who kept crying. It made me realize that driving comes with a lot of responsibility; that it's a privilege-not a right; that when you are driving you are responsible for your safety as well as the safety of others. Responsibility plays a big role in many aspects of lives, with driving being one of the most important ones. Being responsible entails being held accountable for one's achievements and, in this case,mistakes. Driving involves many guidelines and rules that must be followed. With me being a new and less experienced driver, I know that I must learn from this experience. Moreover, I know that it is important for me to be more alert and cautious from now on in order to prevent incidents like this from happening
The big day was finally here! I woke up around four in the morning to get my hair and makeup done. I had stayed in Fort Worth at my aunt’s house, since the lady doing my hair lived closed to her. So already it starts to go bad. The lady called in saying she couldn’t make it because her car broke down, so of course I start freaking out. I wasn?t nervous to drive because my dad let me drive sometimes to my grandpa?s house If I took the back roads, so I had a little experience. When I took behind the wheel it was a little different than driving on the back roads, but I did ok. When I finished behind the wheel I signed up for a driving test. This was the part I had been waiting for, I wanted to pass so I could drive alone. The day of the test was very stressful, I had to use my grandma?s car because mine had tinted windows. I had never driven my grandma?s car, and I could not do corner backing with it.

The most perfect vehicles on the best designed highways on beautiful sunny days driven by fallible human beings crash into each other. The only way to drive "safely" (as we are all admonished to do!) is to learn more about the process. Learn more about your vehicle and how to maintain it; learn how to use your eyes to look far down the road; learn to spot problems before they happen; and also learn to deal with emergency situations. In most cases it's the human element that fails. After all, safe is only as safe does.
