Texting and Driving Imagine you are behind the wheel of your vehicle, driving and your phone goes off because you just received a text message and you decide to grab your phone really quick read it and respond to the text message because you do this all the time and nothing has ever happened before and boom you just hit a vehicle. You ran a red light because you weren’t paying attention to the road and your attention was on your cell phone replying to a text message. Now you hear sirens, and emergency vehicle lights, people are screaming, and there is blood everywhere all because you were texting and driving. Texting and driving is dangerous and it’s against the law in most states but drivers still aren’t following the laws they are ignoring them and just trying to hide the practice. I believe that the laws need to be more strict and enforced more but there are people out there who believe that the texting while driving laws are dangerous and they do more harm than good. According to Rogers (2015), before texting became illegal drivers didn’t have to hide their activity but since it became illegal drivers now have to hide their texting while driving and that’s what makes it dangerous because you are trying to read and write out of view from the police so you don’t get trouble. When texting was done before the laws were put in place you were only taking your eyes off the road partially but now that’s it’s illegal you are completely taking your eyes off the road. I still believe that these laws need to be in place and since drivers aren’t following them they need to be stricter. I don’t agree that it’s the laws that are making texting and driving more dangerous texting and driving is dangerous not matter
