A driverless car (sometimes called a self-driving car, or an autonomous vehicle) is a robotic vehicle that is intended to travel places with no human operator. To meet the requirements as an autonomous, a vehicle must be able to direct with no human interference to a place where it’s not usually known to be used.

Driverless cars are frequently described as innovative. But the truth is they come from way back and have been around for a very long time. They actually drove the roads a century ago. Th e first driveless cars was a radio contro car and u had to be at a distance to control it, with not much fund they did what they can and as years went by another driveless car was made.

In 1925, a radio-controlled driverless …show more content…

The basis of this vehicle’s autonomy was attributed not only to the vehicle itself, but the roadways too. The vison of this car was it would be able to move with the electromagnetic that was on the road.

In the early 50s, a company called RCA Labs constructed a tiny car that was effectively directed and controlled by wires on the lab floor.

In 1987, HRL Laboratories tested the first off-road map and sensor-based autonomous navigation. This vehicle was able to travel through anything, for example sharp slopes, rocks, canyons, plants

1994: The twin robot vehicles VaMP and Vita-2 of Daimler-Benz and Ernst Dickmanns of UniBwM drove more than 1 000km on a Paris three-lane highway in heavy traffic at speeds of up to 130 km/h. They demonstrated autonomous driving in free lanes, drivingin a group and lane changes with the autonomous passing of other cars.

1996: Professor Alberto Broggi presented a project where an autonomous car completed a journey of 1900 km over 6 days, with an average speed of 90km/h, using stereoscopic vision procedures to comprehend its atmosphere. The vehicle was able to work autonomously for 94% of its
