A Great Solution for a Night of Fun Imagine being able to have a theater all to yourself during a movie. The article “Drive-Ins: The Last Great Movie Show” by Melissa Shaw-Smith describes how Richard M. Hollingshead, Jr. went from a sprinkler and a radio to a thriving business taken country-wide. The idea was that you could comfortably watch a film from your own car as it was projected through a fabric screen. As the text discloses, “People may even partake in refreshments”(Shaw-Smith 4). This piece by the author demonstrates that people have easy access to refreshments, whether it is a bottle of milk for babies, a soft drink for kids, or something a tad stronger for the adults. This was much more convenient than even going to a convenience store for a soda or bag of chips. Additionally, in “Drive-Ins: The Last Great Movie Show,” the text includes, “Patrons could buy a beer or a light meal”(Shaw-Smith 4). This piece of information from the text illustrates that food was incredibly easy to get as the drive-in offered meals and beverages right at their windows. This is also another bonus that drive-ins have over indoor theaters. With this as the cherry on top, just like on the sundae that someone may have ordered at the theater, Hollingshead’s drive-ins have become the heart of family entertainment. Without yesterday’s drive-ins, today’s theaters wouldn’t have the same level of economy, and the family entertainment industry would likely

children. The good news is that this is a problem that can be fixed. There is no way of completely eliminating underage drinking, but it can be greatly reduced. With efforts from the government, parents, and the media, we can diminish underage drinking a great deal. We need to start educating our children that alcohol is a dangerous drug. We need to start setting better examples for our children. The government needs stricter laws for underage drinkers. The government needs to also enforce these laws more
“When we read stories of heroes, we identify with them. We take the journey with them. We see how the obstacles almost overcome them. We see how they grow as human beings or gain qualities or show great qualities of strength and courage and with them, we grow in some small way” (Sam Raimi). In movies, TV shows, novels, plays, epics, and other famous works we often see a common thread. A hero, a journey, a villain, obstacles, and finally a happy ending, ringing any bells? A heroic journey is a format
