From the beginning of this course I had my mind set on graduating with a degree in child development. This degree will get me my dream career of opening up my own child care and preschool center. I have decided to pursue my life as a child care provider because my mother has owner a small family child care (in home) for over twenty years. I have grown to love working with the children and helping run the business. Owning a child care center is not only a dream of mine but it is also my passion and I am determined to make it happen. And, with the help of this course I will be able to make my dream career come true. To reach my career goal I will have quite a bit of work to complete. In order to open a center I have to complete my child development major and get my bachelors degree, work experience, and a child care license from the child care listening of Utah. I have worked at my mother’s in home daycare (it is a licensed daycare) since I was around eight years old. I love working with children, this involves taking care of the infants and toddlers, helping them do their crafts, encouraging them in their development to learn their ABC’s or to write their own name, and much more. I love how I am helping raise the next generation, it always puts a smile on my face when I see a child complete a goal that they have been working on for weeks or even months. There is only one thing that I dislike and that is that the parents will sometimes take advantage of you and they don’t realize how much work goes into caring for sixteen children for twelve hours on a daily basis (excluding Saturdays and Sundays). My strengths are getting on the child’s level and having a conversation with them (not just talking to them), helping the children when they get hurt, and encouraging and giving as much support as I possibly can to every child in the childcare to help them achieve all their goals in a timely
The childcare industry has variables including childcare by a family member, a traditional caregiver or a day care center. It depends on a family’s situation as to which one benefits them most. The two types of childcare to be discussed are the traditional caregiver and a day care center. Parents must decide whether they want a one-on-one or a group setting for the care of their children.
This observation was mostly conducted behind a one way glass. I watched the children but they did not know I was there. The ages of the children served in that program were in the range of 18-36 months. Curriculum used in that program is considered Creative. Qualifications for staff must hold to work in this program is a Child Development Associate’s degree (CDA) or Bachelors in Early Childhood Education.
The history of child care is a universal practice that has been around for centuries that was only at first usually practiced among relatives. However, over the past decades with the increase in women employment, single parent homes, and the economy mothers and families have begun enrolling their children in child care centers regularly. Consequently, childcares became the norm in society and by the 1990’s 6 million infant and toddlers were in regular non parental child care (Phillips & Adams, 2001). Now that a high demand for child care was needed parents were faced with the issue of seeking suitable care facilities that conformed to certain standards, their budget, values, and other factors that were preferred and fit their needs. Since there are so many different child care types, principles, programs, and etc. that parents can choose from it can be difficult to know what to look for and decide what the best fit is for your child. This paper will briefly go over the cost, variety of child care arrangements, childcare regulations, and personnel qualifications among other factors to consider when choosing proper care for your children and their development.
It is important to keep in touch of all the variations in childcare practices by analysing the applicable publications, for example, Nursery World and Early Years Educator by being prepared to attend preparation course when available. There are better opportunities that ever before for practitioners to improve their trainings up to and past degree level. Having skilled practitioners in the nursery setting will help to change and keep high standards of care and education for the benefit of the children and families while also creating a positive culture of continuous improvements. The Care Council wants to make sure that everyone working as a social care or nursery practitioner and childcare worker is acting carefully and in a way that makes the most of the knowledge and skills they have made up over a period. The Care Council also trusts that the stuff should feel proud of the influence that they make to respected services and be motivated to take responsibility for their professional development from the start of their career throughout their working

I always knew, without a doubt, that I would attend college. From the time I was very young, it was instilled in me by the adults in my life that going to college and furthering my education was my best shot at being successful. Now that I am partaking on this journey, I can only hope that those people were right.
The National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) (1985) states they have changed professionalism over the past 60 years by working to promote high-quality early childhood programs for all young children and their families by working towards two major strands of activity to support this specific goal, which are: one, to facilitate the professional development of individuals working for and with young children birth through age eight and two, improving public understanding and support for high-quality early childhood programs”. The NAEYC has also made entrances available for individuals who want to receive either a, two- and four-year degree, by offering professional development training sessions, seminars and course work for student-teacher early childhood education professionals who are working an intern training position, under the leadership and guidance of both a mentor-teacher and their early childhood teacher education specialists; in which this type of training is based on the age and grade level of the children the mentor wants to teac...
It is very important to prepare children for school and make sure they improve their learning on manners and the morality of their actions. If a daycare is run out of a home where the employees do not meet the supervisor standards they day cares tend to be less of an educational or learning program and more of a babysitting format. It is very important that the format of the day care provide learning activities, attentiveness to children’s need, and emotional
As the job market changes, more adults are required to return to college to gain the educational skills necessary to obtain a career. Childcare being a major issue to most adults a childcare faculty would eliminate burdens associated with childcare, such as the stability, financial and educational benefits for all parties involved.
My personal career goal is to do Information Technology (IT) and how I’m going to achieve that goal is by going to a community college to start off with and then go to a four year college. When I get my Bachler’s degree I will go further into my career into helping my job fix computers when they are broken down. The process of deciding to pursue a career as an IT was is an easy one, but that process has helped me define my career goal, be realistic about what I want, and plan thoughtfully about how to reach my goals.
How one plans to tackle all of the challenges will help them when making decisions in the future. To many people, early childhood education is unnecessary. I realize that going into this teaching field, I will most likely have to interact with adults who will argue that it is useless. There are a lot of thorny issues surrounding the professionalization of early childhood education (“The Challenges of Professionalizing ECE Workforce”). I am prepared to talk to adults about my beliefs and the importance of the program. As I go into this career with the knowledge of this, I will be more prepared on how to handle those who have a different opinion than I
Every teacher has this potential whether they are aware of it or not. I have been a teacher for nine years in early childhood education and within those nine years I have become very aware of how powerful the smallest act of caring can turn a person’s life around or even just make someone’s day a little better. Being a preschool teacher has brought me great pleasure to my life simply brightening a child’s day and knowing that I am making a difference in their life. Through my journey as a teacher I have thought about how I can advance in my career field and still be active with children on a daily basis and continue making a difference in each child’s life as well as their parents. With plenty of thought and research I have come to the conclusion and gained the interest to become a preschool and childcare director.
The Child Life Council has said “Early child life workers had much to teach the hospital about the developmental needs of children” (The Evolution of Child Life, n.d., para.4). History is not only there to prove that work has been done, it is there as information to others who may need it. The more you can understand about the profession, the more information you can provide to those who may need it. I know that within this capstone I am going to use all the knowledge I can, and all the resources available to me. I want to make sure that my goals align with the vision of child life and that I can be proud of the work I do within the
Teaching young children is becoming more complex and the demands placed on educators are increasing. By taking part in continuing education, and integrating current research and practices, educators and administrators will be better able to promote innovation and improvement in both managing, and teaching. Since early childcare educators are keenly aware of the needs of children and are able to see trends in early the child care and development system and their impact on children and families, they have a responsibility to engage in informed advocacy for children (Mevawalla & Hadley, 2012). By getting involved in the public policy-making process, they can help educate the public and build support for early childhood issues that will help improve the lives of children and families. Early childhood professionals have many important roles and responsibilities. “Teaching young children is serious work that requires high-quality, dedicated, professional teachers who see the importance of what they do and are eager to increase their effectiveness, knowledge, and skills” (Phajane, 2014, p.
It has been my craving in every aspect of life to do things differently, chart my own path and tread in to uncharted territory. Nine years back, this what made me join a course in bachelor of marine engineering at MERI, the only institute in India exclusively offering such a course. Idea of venturing in to high sees, braving the storms with only handful of resources and almost completely cut off from out side world made adrenaline pumping in to my veins. All this along with opportunity to get exposure to highly sophisticated systems on board ships, which was fodder for my technical bent of mind seemed perfect for my adventure seeking personality. Through out my career progression I have made such decisions like joining LNG shipping pool of my company and seeking extra professional qualification of eligibility to sail on diesel engine driven as well as turbine driven ships
