He has tortured men, women and children and did medical and horrible experiments on them. He put people into pressure chambers, he tested them with drugs, had them castrated, and even froze them to death. The children were exposed to experiments, performed without anesthetics, would transfuse blood from one to another, and the kids had reactions to various stimuli. Dr.Josef Mengele put lethal germs into his people, would do sex change operations, and would remove limbs and organs. Mengele injected chemicals into the eyes of children to see if their eye color would change, but that result in many ways wouldn't work, so the kids will usually just turn blind. On several occasions, he killed his victims simply to be able to dissect them and use their body parts. He will usually stitch girl parts onto the boys, and stitch boy parts onto the girls. Most of the victims Mengele experimented on died, either during the experiment or due to later infections.(“Josef …show more content…
Josef Mengele was one of the scariest research scientist during the Holocaust because of his work he had done on different races. Mengele would be on the look out for any victims to steal or victims he thought that he could experiment on. Dr. Josef would use his people from different races and would mix their skin together and would see how they looked. The people he would like to steal would be Jewish families, Gypsy families, Homeless, sometimes orphans, many of the kids have seen the murder of their parents, siblings, and relatives. The families he stole would face starvation, have illnesses, brutal labor, and other diseases until they were put in the gas chambers. At death camps like Auschwitz children did not last very long, they were generally killed upon arrival. Children born in a camp like Auschwitz were generally killed on the spot, especially if the child was Jewish. He will paralyze his victims and cut their legs off and will use those body parts to use on later experiments. What Dr.Josef would mostly try to figure out were the development of genetics and learn more about what happens when DNA is mixed with other
Josef Mengele was born March 16, 1911 in Gunzburg, Germany and his parents were Karl (1881-1959) and Walburga (?-1946) Mengele. He had two younger brothers; Karl (1912-1949 and Alois (1914-1974). He had several nicknames, one of them being Beppo. He was a bright and cheerful child in his early days. (Mengele32) He was full of ambition and had high hopes for his future. In 1930 he graduated from the Gymnasium and in 1935 he was awarded a PhD from the University of Munich. In 1937 he was appointed a research assistant at the Third Reich Institute for Heredity, Biology, and Racial Purity at the University of Frankfurt; worked with Professor Otmar Freiherr von Vershuer. (Mengele54) In May 1938 he joined the SS (Schutzstapple - elite unit which protected Hitler and his important dignitaries) and in 1940 he joined the medical corps (Sanitatsinspektion) of the Waffen SS. (an actual army unit that fights on the front lines made up of the SS - they were very widely feared) (grandparents2) In July 1939 Mengele married Irene Schoenbein.
Along with Josef Mengele, other medical doctors joined the Nazi party and performed wicked medical experiments inside and outside concentration camps. Some other medical practitioners include Dr. Karl Brandt, Dr. Herta Oberheuser, Dr. Carl Clauberg, and Dr. Horst Schumann. These doctors not only performed experiments to help Germany’s military, they also experimented ways to advance their belief that the Aryan race is superior to all others. These doctors executed many unreasonable and vile experiments on the innocent victims of the Holocaust.
January 30th, 1933 was the day thousands of lives were affected greatly. Adolf Hitler began as the Chancellor of Germany. Hitler and his newly founded army, were always viewed as the true killers of the innocent Jews. Many did not notice the people who actually did a great deal of the killing, the doctors that is. There were a number of doctors from the Holocaust that are known for horrific killing but one stands out above the rest. Dr. Josef Mengele is the one that most people know about. He is the one that is known for his antics in the killing of Jews. He can’t be compared to the others because what he did was like no other.
As a child, Joseph was a very charming boy and won people over with his wit. In Mengele’s teen years, he decided to pursue becoming a doctor and make a name for himself to rise from his father’s shadow. Josef began his studies by getting a Ph.D. in anthropology, the science of human beings: especially of human beings and their ancestors. Then he continued his studies at The University of Frankfurt. It was there that Mengele met Dr. Verschure and started his study of eugenics.
Josef Mengele wasn't always a bad guy. During his childhood Mengele grew up in a Catholic family with both parents and two brothers, he being the oldest of the three. Shortly after his birth in 1911 his father became sole owner of a foundry that made farm equipment in Germany. His family became wealthy as the business prospered and they became the most powerful family in their town. While young Mengele was growing up, his parents were frequently absent due to the family business. But he expressed his desire to stand out from other members of his family and become successful in his own way, not involving the family business. Josef was a very excellent student. His favorite subject was anthropology, the study of the origin, development, and behavior of humankind. He abandoned the Catholic Church when he was a teenager and became a member of a patriotic young people's group ( “Josef Mengele.” Student Resources in Context ).
At least 1,500 non-consenting sets of twins were experimented on. Around 200 of which did not survive. Other mengele experiments included experiments on children, who he would lure in with sweets. He would trick them into thinking he was a trustworthy person. In reality, though, he has been reported as sadistic, lacking empathy, and showed no remorse to human emotions.
Margaret Englander, a survivor of Auschwitz, worked for Mengele as his clerk witnessing life-and-death selections for a year. “He took 4 children one day; he gave them sweets, and put them in his car. While driving, he stopped in the middle of the road and shot them all.” Mengele later sterilized her daughter and selected her to die, just two days after being liberated.
Josef Mengele was born on March 16, 1911, in Gunzburg, Germany. He was the born the oldest son of Walburga and Karl Mengele. His father was a “...prosperous manufacturer of farming implements” (www.ushmm.org). He had two younger brothers, Alois and Karl Jr Mengele. Through his schooling, Mengele was known to be incredibly intelligent and ambitious. He attended the Frankfurt University Institute of Hereditary Biology and Racial Hygiene, and also the Anthropological Institute at the University of Munich. He studied genetics and anthropology, and earned a Ph.D. in physical anthropology in 1935. During his time in university, he wrote three articles, most of which were dissertations. They were entitled “Racial-Morphological Examination of the Anterior Portion of the Lower Jaw in Four Racial Groups...Genealogical Studies in the Cases of Cleft-Lip-Jaw-Palate [and] Hereditary
Even though there were other evil people, Josef Mengele was the most sadistic and brutal person from the 15th to 21st century, performing merciless and murderous experiments on others.
Josef Mengele was born on march 16th, 1911 in Gunzburg, Germany. He was the son of Karl and Walburga Mengele and had two brothers. the brother’s names were Karl Jr and Alois Mengele. The Mengele family had a fortune because Josef’s father owned a foundry that manufactured farming equipment, this fortune would help Josef after the war. Josef was a very educated and sophisticated man, earning his PhD in Physical anthropology in 1935 from the University of Munich. He became the assistant for Dr. Otmar von Verschuer at the institute for hereditary biology and racial hygiene in Frankfurt. Josef was not apart didn’t side with a political party until he joined Munich University. In 1937, he joined the Nazi party. Munich
Josef mengele studied twins, as well as dwarfs. He also studied people with different colored irises and looked for a cure to water cancer. His first experiments were on gypsy children. Children who had noma were exterminated immediately. Kids organs and even heads were preserved and sent in jars to institutions. Mengele also selected dwarfs with physical disabilities (such as dwarfism) for extermination. During the first part of his experiments mengele would subject pairs of twins to be experimented on (mostly awake and without painkillers or numbing). The experiments lasted for hours and was exhausting and painful for these children, most of which were already starved). The subjects were photographed and plaster casts were taken of their jaws and teeth. Their finger and toe prints were taken as well. Once the experimentation was over, mengele ordered the twins or dwarfs to be executed by lethal injection so he could move onto the next set.
... of death. Over his course of 21 months at Auschwitz he acted out grotesque practices. He is accredited with killing 14 pairs of Gypsy twins in one night. We never knew his full extent of his terror as files and laboratories were destroyed by SS towards the end of the war. He murdered up to 1.5 million children. In a disturbing twist, many modern medical advances were made due to his experiments.
Born March 16, 1911, Josef Mengele was born into a farming family. He was loved by the townspeople for his wit and humor. Wanting to make a name for himself in his community, he earned a Ph.D. in hereditary biology. Josef was mentored by known Nazi collaborator Otman Verschuer. Verschuer taught Mengele eugenics, selective breeding, and sparked Josef’s interest. Mengele was educated to believe the German race was the master race, and would do anything in his power to prove this. Mengele’s hatred for “inferior races” was the root of his experimentation at Auschwitz (Lagnado and Dekel).
He wanted to show the lack of resistance among Jews and wanted to perpetuate the degeneration of Jew and “gypsy” blood through physical abnormalities and the collection of blood and tissue samples. Most patients had unfortunately died as a result of all his experimentation. While we often associate Josef Mengele as the main perpetrator, Dr. Miklos Nyiszli contributed greatly to his research.
Mengele used his anthropological studies to an advantage while experimenting on prisoners in Auschwitz. As you’ve probably heard, the experiments had no regard for the health or safety of the victims. Mengele’s specimen were better fed and taken care of than that of most prisoners in Auschwitz. They were also temporarily safe from the gas chambers. He took things to the next level by tricking kids into thinking they were safe by founding a Kindergarten in which he would play the violin for them while injecting their hearts with dangerous poisons. Dr. Mengele oddly quoted, “The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing.” Many people thought that Mengele was a creepy individual, and this proved it.
