Is Dr. Jekyll really considered the monster? This very question comes from the book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Dr. Jekyll is a town Doctor who encounters some emotional break downs, one of his break downs leads to him becoming upset and creating a chemical. This chemical creates a split personality of Dr. Jekyll. Soon we find out that the split personality of Dr. Jekyll, is causing problems for the town, and his name is none other than Mr. Hyde. Everyone agrees that killing is bad. Some people would say Mr. Hyde should not keep fighting off his true self, Dr. Jekyll and some people believe that Mr. Hyde should keep fighting off his true self, Dr. Jekyll. Hyde should not keep fighting off his true self, Dr. Jekyll is because people would respect him out of fear. The people would know who he really is behind his split personality. Dr. Jekyll created Mr. Hyde, therefore; no one should fear him. Lastly, people don’t know what else Mr. Hyde could do. The second reason Mr. Hyde should not keep fighting off his true self, Dr. Jekyll is because he would be true to himself. Mr. Hyde was the monster, not him. He knows now his mistakes and will not turn back to them. He would be giving the people of the town peace. The third reason Mr. Hyde should not be fighting off his true self, Dr. Jekyll is because he is not the monster. Hyde was the one who convinced Dr. Jekyll into thinking the way he did. Dr. Jekyll created this monster of himself, he could also destroy it. And Utterson believes Mr. Hyde is the only monster
