Down with Bullying

Schools throughout the world have come to realize that bullying and harassment has become a major problem throughout all levels of school. This has shun light on the issue that it does not matter what age or grade a child is in, all children are at risk of been bullied or harassed. Children can be picked on for many different reasons from having to wear glasses to maybe having divorced parents. Before schools would see bullying as only harmless fun for the students. Then, when bullying became more severe and dangerous and harassment started to become a problem in schools the school’s began to have a different view than before. However, even after starting to realize this, the schools still did not do anything more to prevent students from been bullied or harassed. Due to the schools’ failure to respond to the growing bullying and harassment epidemic many more students became victims and suffered not only physical but mental abuse. This then resulted in the victims obtaining physical and/or mental scars that would will remain for the rest of one’s life. Although all children no matter age or grade are at risk of been bullied or harassed, teenagers in high school are the one’s who must suffer the worst of what bullying and harassment has to offer.
High schools have always been known for been places that have had problems with bullying and harassment. Bullying and harassment was seen as a norm in high school at one point in time. Bullying was seen as only a way for students to express oneself. Of course if it went too far and it resulted in the victim obtaining physical injuries the one who caused the injuries would be held responsible and disciplined if it was done on school property. Even after her death the attackers did not stop and post online things like good riddance, finally shes gone, and etc. The parents wanted the ones responsible for her death to be arrested. The police arrested the group of girls and two boys responsible for her death but were not able to arrest for the bullying that led to her dead because of there been no laws specifically against bullying. Instead the police and prosecutors of the court had to rely on a combination of other laws like civil right, stalking, and statutory rape. Why is it only after death that people began to make a move to begin to stop cyberbullying or any other type? Why does there have to be deaths involved for people to finally care? And most importantly why do the deaths have to be of young teenagers who have their whole lives ahead of them?
