We finally made it! The long drive made everyone exhausted, but it was worth the four hour drive. My dad would talk about our cabin so much. He would tell us stories from when he was a kid, he made the cabin sound so awesome. Our cabin was built in 1960 on Dora Lake in Dora Lake,Minnesota. It was 2007 and being 7 years old in a new place with new people is kind of scary. When we first arrived my dad asked my brothers and me to unpack before we go exploring. We unpacked everything and made sure it was all organized. The first thing we did was check out the lake. Dora Lake is a decent sized lake only because not too many people know about it. By the time we talked to the neighbors and got to know the place it was time to go inside.
After a great night’s sleep we got up super early to go fishing. I was the first person to catch a fish and It was a walleye. I was proud of myself. We fished for five hours until it started to rain and hail. My dad and grandpa decided to go to shore. We got off the boat and hid under a tree. After a while it stopped raining and hailing. My little brother Jarek wanted to go back to the cabin so my grandpa told him to start walking. Where we were standing there was a trail and my grandpa said it led back to the cabin. So Jarek started walking and we all thought he was joking, but as he walked

It was raining all night and now day so we couldn’t really do anything. Until it finally stopped raining and cleared up so we went right out fishing. Again I caught the first fish. I had this huge walleye on the line and i almost had it until the line broke and the fish took my lure. I was so unhappy that was my lucky lure. Hours later we went back to the cabin to fillet the fish we caught. My dad cuts on of the fish open and there it was my lure. I was so happy! Later we went out with my “lucky” lure and it wasn’t so lucky anymore. However that didn’t stop me from having a fun rest of my
In grade 2 on the weekend I went to my friends house for a sleepover and we started playing with his little brother. We played a few games and nothing went wrong. Then we played a game where we were running away from his brother and he had to catch us. So we ran upstairs and into his room. We covered the door so he couldn’t get in, but eventually we let him in and he couldn’t get my friend so he went for me. When he finally got me he grabbed my legs and I fell and my head hit the corner of his bed and I was bleeding and screaming like crazy. So I ran down the stairs screaming my bloody head off. So hi mom drove me to the hospital and gave me ice: for my head. When we got the the hospital I was so scared I wasn’t even
I have been to a place that has lots of interesting snow and others. It is Lake Tahoe. It is a place that I will never get bored of that it has a lot of snow! Mostly you could do anything with snow. But most of all, beating your older brother up in a snowball fight. I really loved when each time I went down the big mountain. It was really amazing. I was also really happy of building snowmen and building snow forts that I never even knew I can build. It was amazing for all of what could be crafted with snow. The fantastic trip has come to the start!
Jack arrived in a town called Elk Lake which was devoid of Elks and Lakes. In fact, the closest thing to a lake it had were the puddles forming in the cracked car-worn streets. There was no forest which meant no elk. The only foliage in sight were dead bushes, meaning that there was nothing to suck in the pollution. Most of the stores had a forlorn look about them as if uttering a sad sigh.
At 5:30 in the morning, a strong wind woke me. I guess everyone had stayed and slept on the dock. I started to scream, "Wake up! Wake up! It's time to wake up!" Everyone was very startled and they all looked very sleepy. We boarded the boat and sailed along the coast of North America to a bay which I also named after myself. Hudson Bay was its name. I claimed the land around this bay for England and explored the bay for 3 months. It was freezing cold and my ship had froze in ice! That winter was a very cold one and my crew and I suffered in the chilly
Several years ago I was employed as a biologist by the National Park Service. This tour-of-duty was located in Del Rio, Texas, which is located in the south-central portion of the state along the Rio Grande River. During my six month tour, I was responsible for implementing an Aquatic Invasive Species action plan to assess if Zebra or Quagga Mussels had entered the Lake Amistad watershed.
I woke up my dad and told him that it was already light outside. He jumped out of bed and said we had to go. I went outside and started up the truck while my dad was getting dressed. When I opened the door to the trailer I noticed clear blue skies and a light frost that covered the ground. I jumped in the driver's seat of the 1990 white GMC Sierra, pushed in the clutch, and turned the key. The truck hesitated for about ten seconds and then started. I turned on the defroster and the windshield wipers so we wouldn?t have to scrape the frost.
“Where are you from?” The question for me, has always been conflicting. You would ask my mom and dad the question and they would not hesitate for a second before letting “Beledweyne,” or “Somalia.” fall from their mouths. All my other siblings who were born in America would probably answer the question with “Mankato,” or “Eagle Lake,” maybe even “Minnesota.” and not put any thought into it. I however have put plenty of thought into in. Maybe too much thought.
You know the feeling when everything’s perfect, and suddenly your heart just stops? The 1 hour 48 minute drive to Lake Ontario was just like any other. Movie playing, siblings arguing, music blasting. My family hosts our annual 4th of July party up by Cape Vincent. With the warm air filled with the scent of the grill, and the sounds of laughter and music, that weekend was turning out to be just like the rest. Or at least that’s what we thought. 1311 Failing Shores Lane was never quiet during any of the previous events, but for some reason a dead silence draped over the lot.
The trip to Canada was about two days long by car. On the way there we stayed in a hotel overnight. When we got to the hotel we took our luggage to our rooms. We went down stairs and we found the swimming pool, we went swimming and then we went to bed. The next morning we got up and packed and we were bock on the road. It was kind of fun because we had to cross the border into Canada. We had to show them our passports and our birth certificates to get across. On the way to go to our cabin we saw a bear cross the road in front of us. Then when we got to the cabin we
It was a bright sunny day and the lake looked like glass, perfect to go water skiing. My dad, brother, and I decided to go get the boat ready for our trip. We had to get the sunscreen, refreshments, and water skis. Once we all got in the boat, we had to untie the ropes that were tied to the boat and the dock and lead the boat out of the dock without it colliding into the dock..
I could not believe I caught a fish all by myself! His proud chuckle made me proud too. I remember posing to take the picture with my dad holding my prized first fish because I did not want to touch it. The fish was humongous or so I thought until I saw the one my brother caught ten minutes later.
After we got tired of the pool me and my family started to head to the beach. So as we walked we noticed an amazing shell so we went and picked it up and there was a snail inside of it. It jumped out of its shell at my dad and scared us to death. After that we set it back free in the ocean, the we went and played around in the amazing water. My mom and my grand ma went to go and get lunch from the beach side café. They had the best food on the beach, we all ate our lunch and were stuffed
It was the last Saturday in December of 1997. My brother, sister, and I were chasing after each other throughout the house. As we were running, our parents told us to come and sit down in the living room. They had to tell us something. So, we all went down stairs wondering what was going on. Once we all got down stairs, the three of us got onto the couch. Then, my mom said, “ Well…”
On that fateful day in March, I was a couple months shy of my third birthday. My family and I lived in New Mexico at the time and were renting a house with an outdoor in-ground pool. The day was beautiful. I was outside with my oldest sister Rachel and my father. Rachel was diligently reading curled up on a bench that sat against the house, and my father was mowing the backyard. My mother and my other sister were in the house. Off to one side of the house there was a group of large bushes. I was playing over there with one of her large cooking pots, off in my own little world. At one point while amusing and en...
I remember being woken up by my dad who was calling my name and telling me he had to take my mother to the hospital. He also made sure to tell me that my aunt had come to watch my brothers and I until they got back from the hospital. I left the warmth of my bed to go out into the hallway stepping on the cold wooden floor with my bare feet. From the dark unlit hallway I could see the flickering glow of the TV. Out of curiosity I immediately went to go see what my aunt was watching. When I got into the living room I saw her flipping through the channels until she suddenly came to a stop. A smile came across my aunt’s face as soon as she saw the movie title. She asked me if I wanted to watch the movie Chucky and I said yes. Although at the time I had no idea what the movie was about but if I did I would have never agreed to watch the movie.
