The president of the United States has always been a distinguished man. He has always been a strong speaker, and has strived for the good of the country. He has made good and bad decisions, but has stood by them. The title of president has belonged to generals, soldiers, farmers, lawyers and teachers (List of Presidents of the United States by Occupation). Now as the next election approaches, popularity vote is leaning towards… a reality television star? This “star” turns out to be Donald Trump; founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts and president of the Trump Organization. His true claim-to-fame arose from his NBC television show, The Apprentice (Donald Trump). Trump’s father, Fredrick Trump, was a real-estate developer in Queens, Staten …show more content…
The most disturbing of his comments have been aimed at his daughter, Ivanka. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Trump insinuates that he would date his own daughter - if she was not his daughter: “After I met Ivanka and praised her to her father, he said, “Yeah, she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father . . . ” He has earlier made a similar comment on The View in 2006: “[Trump’s feelings about Ivanka posing for Playboy] would be really disappointing — not really — but it would depend on what’s inside the magazine. I don’t think Ivanka would do that, although she does have a very nice figure. I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her” (Griswold). Prideful father or not, such statements are uncomfortable to read. More uncomfortable though are the accusations of raping his now ex-wife, Ivana Trump. In the book (Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump) published in 1993, author Harry Hurt III details the “assault” from the deposition of the Trump’s divorce. Ivana stated in 1989 Trump became enraged after a scalp-reduction surgery, ripped out clumps of her hair, then proceeded to have intercourse with her. Trump has since denied such things ever happened in 1993 (Mak & …show more content…
When Trump announced his bid for the presidency, he had this to say about Mexican immigrants: “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best…They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” The New York Times interviewed Trump afterwards, and he stated he will not change his stance (Stahl). On the other hand, Donald Trump does have a few things he could bring to the table if elected president. In the end, Trump is a good businessman with a net worth totaling $4 billion (#72 Donald Trump). His skills in money making can be valuable to the economy. Also, though not always appropriate, he is blunt. He says what he wants when he wants, and does not let anyone stand in his way. Besides, if all else fails, “The Donald” can just return to his television show, right? He could have, until NBC released a statement saying, “Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBC is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump (Stahl).” Trump does not even hold a candle to the men that has come before him in the presidential race. America deserves men such as John F. Kennedy, Dwight Eisenhower, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The only actor to run the White House was Ronald Reagan, and it is best to leave it that
This is only one of the many offensive comments he has made throughout his campaign, which I plan on analyzing for the purpose of understanding systemic racism within America. Trumps campaign has been centered on the very controversial topic of immigration policies and the building of a “Great Wall” that is intended to keep the Mexican people, in particular, out of the United States. The idea that someone like Donald Trump could become the President of the United States of America has put fear into the hearts of the American people. Running with the slogan “Make America Great Again” Trump has emphasized that America has failed because of its “lenient” policies towards other countries, and his plan
Repeatedly Donald Trump is witnessed at the Grand Old Party Debates, press conferences and even during his Tweet expressions, displaying the very demeanor that is disturbing to many voters. As stated by columnist John Hawkins and on the Blog Website townhall.com, he characterizes the following comments as Donald Trump's best quotes. "I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct. I've been challenged by so many people, and I don't frankly have time for total political correctness. And to be honest with you, this country doesn't have time either." (Hawkins, 2015, para.
Donald Trump can be appreciated for his cunning business savvy and an ability to at various times throughout his career, make it big. By co-creating this reality show with Mark Burnett, not only has he capitalized on the public's desire to fantasize about (and for a precious few, compete for) achieving a high-profile, financially lucrative career as a business mogul, he has also brought to the mainstream audience a heated, emotional and stimulating debate about something that we all seem to have an opinion on: what it takes to be a great leader.
Trump has said and believes that all immigrants that enter the United States are bad and are set out to endanger the lives of all individuals
...entures. His immense wealth and name recognition is nothing to be forgotten. He will always be THE DONALD.
Understanding and evaluating presidents’ performance often poses challenges for political experts. The nation votes one president at the time and each presidency faces different tests. The environments surrounding a presidency have a tremendous impact on the success and failure of that presidency. In addition, the president exercises his power through a check and balance system embody in the Constitution. As stated in (Collier 1959), the Constitution created a government of “separated institutions sharing power.” As a result, a president works with others institutions of the government to shape the nation’s agenda. Thus, determining a presidential performance becomes difficult, especially when it comes to comparing the performance among presidencies.
American wanted him to be president so here you go Donald Trump will be in office coming January 2017. Do I think he should be president? No but did I want Hilary to be president? Hell no! Donald Trump is wrong in so many ways when he says things but I will rather have that then someone I feel owes lots of people in this world many of favors. Honestly the only thing I like about Trump is that he is somewhat a businessman. I know everyone says it but it’s honestly true, the guy is good at what he does. I fell though as in since America is in tremendous debt Trump can use his businessman ability to dig us out of this hole that we are in or he can just possibly make it worst. I don’t think everyone wants to give him a chance to actually prove
Donald Trump is a dedicated businessman who wants to make America better. He was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York. His dad, Fred was a successful real estate developer, and his mom was a homemaker (History.com Staff). Trump went to military school from eighth to twelfth grade. However, in the Vietnam War, he was deferred from being drafted four times because he was a student and once because of medical reasons, so he never had to serve in the military
As a result from extreme hard work and perseverance followed by an unmatchable drive to succeed, Donald J. Trump has earned the right to be known as a multi-billionaire, real estate icon, and President of the United States of America. Reflecting on his life, he has faced many challenges and overcame them all. To understand how he rose to success and his journey to the top of the kingpin, it is important to recognize how he saw the american dream and pursued it. Today, many recognize him as the president but very few can fully grasp all that he has done in his life. From his start as a real estate mogul, to his impact on media, there are many questions as to how he became so recognizable today.
Donald Trump has some very harsh opinions on illegal immigration. He said, and I quote “When Mexico (meaning the Mexican Government) sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you (pointing to the audience). They’re not
To begin, Donald John Trump was born in 1946, in Queens, New York. He was the fourth of five children born to parents Frederick C. and Mary MacLeod Trump. Donald Trump’s father was a builder and real estate developer. He later specialized in constructing and operating middle-income apartments, in the cities of New York to include Queens, Staten Island, and Brooklyn. This business was very successful for his father, which allowed their family to live in a 23-room house. At the age of 13, Trump attended New York Military Academy. Trump’s parents felt this military schooling was necessary because he appeared to lack discipline. While in military school, he was known as the star athlete. In his spare time during school, he began to pursue his interests in construction sites and renovating old houses. Trump later attended Fordham University and subsequently transferred to University of Pennsylvania, where he earned an undergraduate degree in finance from The Wharton School of Business in 1968 (Dow and Noce). Following graduation, he immediately started in his father’s business, known as the Trump Organization. He used his newly earned education and training and financed the expansion of the his father’s business. He took the approach of convincing his father, “To be liberal in the use of loans based on the equity in the Trump apartment complexes” (Dow and Noce). With this success, Trump became president of the company by passing his older brother for this promotion. Trump had bigger dreams of putting his signature on the “Manhattan skyline” (Dow and Noce). The future of Trump’s true success began to
So, as for years mainstream America and the whole business world has known and recognized Mr. Trump for its great business practices and real estate success made him a suitable figure I would represent in my project. This, however, it is not the only cause of my decision. After reading several books he wrote, such as, ‘The Art of The Deal’, ‘Think like a billionaire’, , ‘Think like a Champion’ , ‘The way to the Top’, ‘Why we want you to be rich’ ( in collaboration with Robert Kiyosaki). Moreover, several documentaries were dedicated to him such as ‘Life Story of Billionaire Donald Trump’, ‘Amazing Success Story of Donald Trump’, ‘Donald Trump - All American Billionaire’, and after watching them I am in a position to understand and discuss some different aspects about his business life and leadership. I never had the chance to assess his personality and success personally, but nonetheless my views will be based purely on reading and watching his behavior. His success literally can’t be denied by
He is also a risk taker. All these business skills have made him a very well recognized business leader, and one of the nations most well known billionaires. Donald Trump has appeared in many magazines, written a couple of books, and even got his own show on NBC called “The Apprentice”. But what makes Donald Trump successful in almost every endeavor he takes on? Was he born a leader?
“People are pouring across our borders, which is horrible. We have to build a wall.” Building a wall to keep out illegal immigrants is not the only reason why Trump wants to build a wall. He also stated that he wanted to send everyone back to where they came from. Even those who have became legal immigrants and those who were born on
I have not had a single accomplishment that is worth writing about but I feel that my college completion will be one accomplishment that I will be most proud. I feel that I am taking one step forward in life that will make me become a more successful person.
