Domestic Violence is a Global Problem

A domestic violence incident occurs every 6-20 seconds.

The British Crime Survey ‘2000 is stating a serious truth. As what is claimed on ACEP.org (American College of Emergency Physicians), “Domestic violence is the single largest cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than muggings, car accidents, and rapes combined.” Not only in the United States but also spread world-wide, domestic violence is becoming a global issue.

According to the definition from ACEP.org, domestic violence “occurs when one person uses force to inflict injury, either emotional or physical, upon another person they have, or had, a relationship with”. Although domestic violence is also known as partner abuse or spouse abuse, it does not only occur between spouses and partners. Other relations such as parents and children, children and grandparents, and brothers and sisters, may also be where the violence takes place.

However, in this research paper, I’ll focus on a lot of causes, some impacts and a few solutions of domestic violence between spouses, especially the violence in China.

Facts

There’s no doubt that most victims of domestic violence reported are women. According to ACEP.org, each year, globally, there’re between 2 million to 4 million women are battered, 2000 of whom will die of their injuries.

However, as is indicated by Paul Szabo, “domestic violence was not only a women’s issue but a societal issue” (Tragic Tolerance…of Domestic Violence). ...ominant for a long period is ineradicable. Nevertheless, multidisciplinary means need to be put in place to support victims and their children; funds should be spent on educating people about legal consciousness and on researches which may inform people of the best practice.
