In the twentieth century, the increase of domestic violence has increase over the years, it is defined as a new form of violent crime. Domestic Violence can be perpetuated by members in which we maintain an intimate relationship. In the book Fundmentals of Criminology (2013), mentions that “Domestic Violence is widespread with over 1.7 million domestic violence victimizations and over 1.1 million victimizations involving intimate partner violence in the United States in 2011 (Frailing & Harper, p. 291). In addition, domestic violence has increased in regard with male victimization, especially among same sex partners. There are several reasons for domestic violence, but the most common types of domestic violence occur among individuals with low income, poverty, low self- control, gender, race and environment. I agree with the article when the author explained that there are several types of abuse: physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, sexual and stalking. The article really helped me to understand that the victims of domestic violence usually stay in the relationship because they think that there is no help for them. Moreover, the article explains the effects that victims experience when experiencing or living under domestic violence. I personally experience the depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, but I receive the appropriate treatment and support for many family, friends and counselors who helped me thought this experience. I also disagree with the article because the article didn’t explain how cultures of honor affect at many women through the world. In addition, the article did not explained the learned helplessness theory when explaining why victims of domestic violence do not leave the
