Every 15 seconds another women is being beaten. Women in the United States are more likely to be raped or assaulted by a male partner than by any other type of assailant. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, nearly 2 million men beat their partner. And unfortunately every year husbands or boyfriends are the cause for over 1,500 female deaths. There is no excuse for this type of violence, and attorneys often push for superior prison sentences, then if absolute strangers were being assaulted. A life cycle begins to form when such domestic violence occurs, and along with it are many distinctive consequences. There are many types of domestic violence, such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and finally economic abuse. Domestic violence can lead to not only abused women, but also traumatized children, and repeated problems when the adolescents becomes an adult.
Often times attorneys push for larger prison sentences because the abuser takes advantage of the victims’ hope and trust. If it is just a stranger assaulting a victim then the person never had trust in the abuser. When a victims’ trust has been compromised there are many consequences. Such consequences can lead to trust issues with the offender or even other people. That person can never fully put their trust in anyone else after being victimized. Having trust issues can lead to depression, fearfulness of others, and even anger.

Sometimes when domestic violence occurs, a family life cycle may begin to take shape. First the abuser attacks the victim. The man or women will feel the need to have dominance in the relationship, and do whatever it takes to do so. ...artner financially dependent. When you make someone financially dependent they have to fend for themselves. It is considered abuse because you are no longer supporting that person financially.

It is important to stop domestic violence before it gets out of hand. Once children are exposed to domestic violence, they are permanently scared for life. This permanent scaring can lead to dangerous situations. Children may not be able to put their trust in anyone. With no one to put his or her trust in, the child may become depressed which may lead to suicidal thoughts. Children who have been exposed to domestic violence may follow their mom or dads footsteps later on in the future. Not having the right example, the child does not always know what is wrong or right. They child may become an abuser such as his or her parent was, creating more problems for the adolescent.
