How do you define fear? What are some of fears that you have? Have you ever gone deeper into your fear? Maybe finding out why you have theses fears. Some of the things that fear does to people is very damaging mentally and physically. Have you conquered some of the fears that you have had? Some people can not go places, talk to certain people, engage in certain recreation, or live a normal daily life. Humankind might as well let fear live our lives for us. Some of the reasons why we let fear live our lives for us is to save our own lives, and the urge not to disappoint others. But after all is fear just to protect our own lives?
Fear changes the way we look at our own lives and how we live it. One example of that comes from “The Hot Zone” Written by Richard Preston. This book is an exciting medical thriller about a deadly life killing disease that threatens all of humanity if it infects the human population. This book is a true story. To help save the human population a group of scientist and soldiers must try and figure out what is most important to ensure the human population is not infected by the killer disease ebola, “Priority one. Safety of the human population. Priority two. Euthanasia of the animals with a minimum of suffering” (267). The people on this project were so afraid of losing their own lives or anyone else die that they were willing to kill all of the animals in the that were in the same building as the sick animal, even though those animals were not sick. Another example of how fear is used to save our lives is actually an example of someone who had no fear, that someone is Paul Walker. Some of you may know him from the many fast and furious movies that he played in , “ If one day the speed kills me, do not...

...rs can help us be better at what we do, and how hard we work. Fear can make us choose what we do and do not do. Just like what Michael Law stated, fear can be failure, or success, but would you want to take a risk of disappointing others to be a success or a failure? Fear has many ways of disguising itself as a way to please others but really is it just a way not to disappoint them?
IF we let fear make our very lives decisions for us we could in turn loose our lives and disappoint others or, save our life and not disappoint others. If we let fear control us then we could quite possibly miss out on great opportunities, or moments in life. We should conquer our fears and live life as life should be lived. Humans should not be missing happy moments in life. We need to help stop fear from making our decisions for OUR life. We should take back what is rightfully ours!
Fear influences people to make irrational decisions and take extreme measures. Often times, these actions are done to protect one’s reputation. Fear causes people to lie and manipulate to those they care about in order to escape what they are scared of most. Fear of failure has caused higher levels of anxiety, and has made society put blame on each other, rather than owning up to their mistakes. Fear can also cause one to forget one’s true identity and lose one’s values. There are two options that one can take when being faced with a fear: run away from the fear, or go through it and learn a valuable lesson in the end that will make you a stronger person. Fear is a harmful emotion that everyone has to go through in order to succeed.
Human's fears should not be taken lightly. Fear could do anything to one's minds, though without fear, man can be as savage as animals. In the book Lord of the Flies, William Golding presented fear of the unknown to be a powerful force in a man's mind. Fear of the unknown is a powerful force, which can turn to either insight or hysteria. The kids feared of not being rescued off of the island, so they made signal fires on top of the mountain. Then, there and gone, Roger's fear of the old rules he abided to. Also, there were the fears of the beast which confused and isolated the kids from the top of the mountain.
Fear has controlled the world and shaped humans into what they are now. New technologies have been created, because of the fear humans have. Over time new fears have evolved, and illnesses occurred due to anxiety and depression from these fears. The terror that runs through each individual is different. Without fear there would be no evolution or protection.
Have you ever had something ever get to you or make you you scared? That is called fear and tons an tons of people have different fears. Fear is an emotion that makes you feel afraid or something is frighten. Some fears many include spiders, clowns and even death. ‘’Fear Prompts Teens To Act Impulsively’’ by Laura Sanders, ‘’Stress for Success’’ by Alison Pearce, and ‘’And Uncomfortable Bed’’ By Guy Maupassant all explain the idea of fear.
Fear is something that has helped keep mankind and other animals alive. I believe that many of our fears have been caused by evolution. Take, for instance, some peoples fear of snakes. Many individuals hold a fear of them. For some their fear could have been triggered by an experience they had as a child, like stepping on a snake while playing in the backyard. However, for most individuals they do not have an actual reason for their fear other than their distaste for how they look and feel. Why could that be? Well at one-time human beings survived mostly outdoors without the protection of heavy duty shelters and were susceptible to snakes and other creatures. Not having scientists around to classify whether a snake was venomous or not, humans just became fearful of them all and either avoided or killed the snakes they came across. This behavior would then be passed on to their offspring and would continue down the line until individuals began to realize that snakes were not the biggest predator out there and their fears began to shrink. Nevertheless, that fear still lingers in the back of many individual’s minds and dictates how they react to snakes whether in real life or on screen. The evolution of fear is what has kept mankind alive and what will continue to keep mankind alive. Without it we would probably jump off that bridge with our friends or pet that cute little shark we see in the water next to
Fear is perhaps one of the most primal and basic human emotions. In many instances it is because of a reaction to this emotion that humans are able to make crucial decisions to their survival. In the ancestral environment, a proper response to fear or the "fight or flight" reflex often made the difference between life and death. Those humans foolhardy enough to tease the sabretooth tiger to impress the ladies may have made their point a few times, but quite often they ended up as a tasty meal. Clearly, fear is then an useful thing for evolution to pass along to following generations.
Fear is a powerful emotion. Wikipedia.com describes fear as “an emotion induced by threat perceived by living entities, which causes a change in brain and organ function and ultimately change behavior, such as running away, hiding or freezing from traumatic events.”Most people tend to avoid fearful situations, not realizing that something positive may come out of the event or experience. Victor Villaseñor focuses on the topic of fear in his novel titled Burro Genius. Villaseñor demonstrates to readers how growing up he was extremely fearful of any situation. Victor also tells his readers how he turned his fear into motivation into motivation to keep going and reach his ultimate goal of becoming a published author.
I agree, in my view, fear is very powerful “it paralyzes you from doing the work” , it makes everything seem “harder” or impossible to do when
“There is nothing to fear but fear itself” (Roosevelt). “Fear is a chain reaction in the brain that starts with a stressful stimulus and ends with the release of chemicals that cause a racing heart, fast breathing and energized muscles, among other things, also known as the fight-or-flight response” (Layton). Fear affects the brain and can help people or make them in a worse situation than they were in the first place. Fear most motivates/influences people during times of crisis by clouding judgement and becoming a weapon of power.
In the words of Bertrand Russell, “Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom” (Russell). Fear causes many problems in our lives. Fear influences many of a person’s actions and decisions. However, people usually regret the decisions or actions they made out of fear. Also, these actions and decisions can cause problems for those people in their future. Fear is a harmful emotion, for it clouds people’s judgement, disables them from taking action, and causes them to make decisions that they will regret later.
Fear motivates many people to act upon matters, right or wrong. This emotion has been important in many events in both works of literature, and in the real world. It has forced military geniuses into retreat, and influenced them to plan another method of attack. Fear can be both a positive and a negative acting force in one’s life, a quality that can motivate one to success as well as to downfall.
Fear is something very foreign to countless people, not the idea, but the response to it, the way people react to fear. Everyone has their own fears; their own definitions and triggers to these unique varieties of fear. We imagine our worst fears and what would happen if they became a reality. This is where imagination plays a key role in the response to fear. Imagination can overcome one’s ability to reason out an abnormal situation, in which fear kicks in; frequently resulting in the situation becoming worse than the previous extent. Fear is in everyone’s lives, although it doesn’t affect some as much as others due to their response to this fear. Meaning they don’t let their imagination overcome their reason, creating a mindless fear as exhibited throughout our lifetime.
Webster defines fear as “an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by expectation or awareness of danger”. Fear is unavoidable, and it is an inclination that everyone possesses; from a small child to an elderly man and every human in between. There are myriad fears that may develop during a lifetime, but all fears are an innate response to perceived danger. When a danger is perceived the human body responds to protect itself., and the consequences of the body’s response are what make people hate being scared. Fear can transform into a controlling factor in people’s lives as they experience their fear continually making them feel overwhelmed and anxious, so they begin to avoid it altogether and start to miss out on life. Fear is a problem
Fear is something that has been around as long as humans have existed. Some people refer to it as a feeling or emotion, but there is an abundant amount of science that goes into experiencing fear. “Fear is a chain reaction in the brain, that begins with a stressful stimulus and ends with a chemical reaction that causes a racing heart, clammy hands, fast breathing, and energized muscles” (Layton, 2005). The stimulus could be a spider, a roaring thunderstorm, a room full of people waiting for you to get up and give a speech, or a knife at your throat.
Fear is a human emotion everyone dislikes. Fear is in every person with no exception. It can be difficult problem to solve. We can overcome our fears by challenging ourselves by analyzing fear and developing a growth mindset.
