When children are born their minds could be compared to a blank canvas waiting for an immaculate piece of art to be painted on them. Parents, mentors, and friends have the most important role in a young child’s life. As with most responsibilities there are little room for error in these crucial roles. Without the right steps taken, young harmless children can become not so harmless. Although, genetics play a role in a young child’s life, the environment in which one is surrounded has a crucial affect. The beauty of the human mind is that no two minds are the same. However, in this case religion does play a role in shaping someone’s mind. In every religion that exists, their are certain moral and ethical codes, which you must follow, and in return you receive a gift greater than life itself. Religion helps shape people because it gives them guidelines to follow in order to create a better human being. People who commit violent acts such as murder or rape often have a checkered past life. This past life has often to do with the interactions they have had with their parents or other close members of society. People are a product of their environment, which means people who experienced bad things in their life are more prone to do bad things. According to perceptions, “a student whose mother died wrote that it made me stronger, another student who was bullied at school wrote it made me stronger. The adults had to deal with these influences and take control”(Levitt 6). This quote has a lot to do with the environment that surrounds us. It could possibly be caused by rape, parents pounding it is wrong in to a young child’s mind, or even having only one parent in the household (Homosexuality 4). If a child only has one parent in the household they are likely going to develop the tendencies that one parent has. For example, a boy who is brought up by a widowed mother, could develop more feminine aspects of life rather than masculine traits, in return this child could be homosexual or have Gender Dysphoria. Another aspect that is crucial in this matter is a sibling. If a child is not receiving as much attention as their brother or sister than the child is going to feel left out (Archives 3).
