Introduction In determining the influences that relate to the living standard of people in a country, I will consider the different issues in each argument and analyze it with statistical data. The influences evaluated will consist of the social, economic and political conditions in the country, which will be proven to be the most significant when considering its effect on the happiness and living standards of people residing in a country. As money is strongly correlated to happiness and the wellbeing of people due to its ability to provide, the economic portion will be considered in the relationship between a country’s wealth and the living standards. Furthermore, the social factor of a nation and how its citizens are living affect the living standards of people in a country. These factors include multiple aspects of social wellbeing such as the education, health and happiness, and crime rates which ultimately affect the living standards of people residing in a certain region. Finally, through proving the social and economic standards that affect the living standards of citizens, the political standards played a strong role as well. This was shown in the figure 3.1 with government influence and the well-being of citizens. This was crucial because the standard deviations between the countries were low and displayed the fact that the correlation between political influence and the well-being of citizens were strong. Finally, the HDI and happiness displayed a moderate correlation between one another. All in all, with the statistical arguments provided, it is shown that the three factors of social, economic and political have a moderate effect on the living standards of citizens in a country.
Social determinants of health (SDOH) are increasingly becoming a major problem of Public Health around the World. The impact of resources and material deprivation among people and populations has resulted in an increase in mortality rate on a planetary scale. Social determinants of health are defined as the personal, social, economic and the environmental conditions which determines the health status of an individual or population (Gardner, 2013). Poverty in Developing and Less Developed Countries The world includes less developed countries and developing countries. Less developed countries are countries considered to be poor and often contain many people who are in absolute poverty. Developing countries are countries like India, which are gaining in wealth. There are two types of poverty within the world.
According to Schwartz-Nobel, America will lose as much as 130 billion in future productive capacity for every year that 14.5 American children continue to live in poverty (Koppelman and Goodhart, 2007). Sadly the seriousness of poverty is still often clouded by myths and misunderstandings by society at large. This essay studies the issue of poverty and classism in today's society.
In today’s world poverty is not only viewed in terms of average income/wealth, but as the lower end of distribution regarding income, education, health accessibility, nutrition, productivity, participation in politics, etc. Thus, poverty is defined as the “economic condition in which people lack sufficient income to obtain certain minimal levels of health services, food, housing, clothing, and education generally recognized as necessary to ensure an adequate standard of living” (Funk & Wagnall 1). Adequate, however, depends on the standard of living for each country.
Socio-economic class or socio-economic status (SES) may refer to mixture of various factors such as poverty, occupation and environment. It is a way of measuring the standard and quality of life of individuals and families in society using social and economic factors that affect health and wellbeing ( Giddens and Sutton, 2013). Cockerham (2007 p75) argues: ‘Social class or socioeconomic status (SES) is the strongest predictor of health, disease causation and longevity in medical sociology.’ Research in the 1990s, (Drever and Whitehead, 1997) found out that people in higher SES are generally healthier, and live longer than those in lower SES.
The Human Development Index rates each country with a score between 0 and 1, with 1 being the most advanced, globalized country. Factors that are involved in determining a country's HDI are gross domestic production per capita, life expectancy at birth, adult literacy, and the number of persons enrolled in educational institutions. In 1975, Peru's Human Development Index was 0.643. By 2003, the Human Development Index had risen more than one tenth to 0.762. The substantial increase in Peru's HDI is a clear indication that globalization has made a positive impact.

Over the years, the social determinants of health (SDOH) have been receiving more attention due to its importance in determining peoples’ health access, health quality and health outcome. The social determinants of health have been described by various scholars as the situation or environmental condition in which people are born, or where they grow, live and work; unfortunately these conditions have continued to affect and determine people’s ability to access proper care.1-5 In other words, the SDOH continues to consciously and unconsciously influence people’s access to most opportunities in life including access to healthcare services both in developed and developing countries.2 This issues have continue to deteriorate in most developing countries increasing people’s susceptibility to multi-morbidity among different age groups, with a slight increase among the elderly.6
In every individual’s life, there are specific actions and behaviors that we conduct that are unique to ourselves as an individual. These actions and behaviors are connected to many other aspects in our life, ultimately encompassing the overall idea of a “lifestyle”. Although it is seen often as ambiguous in nature, the concept of a “lifestyle” is actually quite simple. The root of this word contains the word “style”, which is typically used to describe a specific conduct or action. However, when fixed onto the word “life”, this transitions into a more complex term. In society, an individual’s lifestyle is simply defined as the way in which that individual chooses to live their life. This includes how the individual decides to conduct their
Income inequality in USA has been on drastic increase ever since the great economic depression. Various researches reveal that the income disparity between the wealthy and the poor is even higher than initially thought. Research done by IMF established that those societies with huge income disparities experience slower and unstable growth and development. America being one of these societies, it is exposed to political and economic instability. Just like inequality, income disparities may result into societal corrosion and division. Apart from increased crime, Income inequality has resulted to widespread poverty in USA. Therefore, the paper will summarize different sources about effects that income inequality has to the USA population.
Quality of life varies from community to community, from family to family, and from person to person. To different people, quality of life means different things. For some people quality of life means having enough money to support his/herself and his/her family, for others they see quality in being able to spend enough time with their family, and others it means being able to have the best of what they can attain. Yet, the differing views of quality, and quality itself are different because of social class. Quality of life is diminished for people in lower classes compared with people in higher classes due to jobs and health.

Poverty is a serious social issue in the society today. According to Peilin (2012), poverty brings hardships to families and individuals as well as political thereby negatively affecting the social stability and social development and posing a severe threat to human security (p. 243). This paper focuses on poverty as a social issue in today’s society. First, it gives a succinct introduction of the social issue, and then describes how it fits into the field of sociology. It also evaluates the sociological theories and terminology that relate to the social issue. The section that follows evaluates what is known and unknown about the particular social issue. This is followed by a discussion regarding the value of sociological research into the issue determining the available or possible practical implications of the sociological inquiry. The information presented here is strongly supported by the concepts and theories derived from reliable sources.
