Diversity is more than just the differences in our races and cultures. It’s about how our differences positively impact our society, influence other people’s perspectives, and contribute to our success. It’s also about building bridges in a positive environment. By understanding the differences in the core dimension of diversity, we can have a better relationship with other people. Exposure to different cultures and people brings an insight on the wide range of perspectives . Moving to a different country and encountering people with different cultures, I learned to see the world in multiple lenses. As NKU embraces inclusiveness, diversity, and global awareness in all dimensions, I will be a positive contribution by using my own experiences to impact other people’s perspectives and contribute to the richness of classroom discussions and social events. Another way in contributing to NKU’s diversity is by participating in multiple extracurricular activities to help the clubs expand and stay active. Diversity in NKU won’t only prepare us in today’s diverse workforce, it also increases our knowledge base. Attending NKU’s Multicultural Leadership Conference in 2015, I witnessed how being in a diverse group helps us ignite our potential by working together. The differences in our viewpoints and opinions showed how a diverse group can come together in a widening sphere of interaction and work for a common goal. I can simply promote diversity by being receptive and respectful of others and their ideas. There are lots of ways to contribute to college diversity like being an event coordinator, starting a club, exploring new things and a whole lot more. In college, there will be students that may come from a country about which I knew nothing before, or maybe study a field that isn’t relevant to mine, but what matters is how we connect on campus and learn from each
