Did you know that almost 80% of car accidents are caused from the driver being distracted? Well it’s true, and because of that, people should try to cut down the things that distract them, like talking on the phone or to someone else in the car. To show how much of a distraction talking while driving can be, I am going to do an experiment of it. For the experiment I will simulate the action with a driving race game and having a conversation with them, and also a conversation with them on the phone. Here are some of the things I will be looking for, I will be looking to see the change in the drivers focus when I am talking to them, and asking them questions to see if I can get them to focus on me more than the road. The second thing I will be watching for is what kinds of things I notice the drivers do when they are driving compared to driving and talking. Third I will be comparing the crash statistics and how they change when the driver is inattentive or distracted, I will also take into consideration of how much the driver did or did not see, and how much of the road they passed while taking their eyes off of the road for two seconds when driving approximately 60/Mph. The risk of being distracted while driving is very dangerous and can result in serious injury or even death, and even if you’re paying attention the other drivers on the road might not be which is the reason you should lookout for you and everyone else.
