Disney is one of the most famous names in the animation industry. Disney is known for providing entertainment geared toward adults and children just the same. The Disney Company, founded by Walter Disney, is known for its animation studio and business franchise. The company was the master of the animation industry. Walt Disney was one of the first animators to create a cartoon that influenced many kids and adults around the world; his works and animations made an impact on society, television networks, and even theme parks. Walt Disney changed the entertainment industry forever. As a pastime, he sat around doing his favorite activity, sketching. Because of Disney’s situation, he tried joining the army, but was rejected due to his young age of 16. Because of his rejection from the military, he signed up with Red Cross’s American Ambulance Corps and arrived in France shortly after World War I ended. He was disappointed to find out the armistice was signed and the action was over. He wrote home stating the he missed out on something big. When Walt returned to the United States, he settled in Kansas City and got a job at a commercial art studio (Beginnings: Walt Disney’s Early Years (1901-1923)). In 1920, while working at an ad company called Pesmen-Rubin Art Studio in Kansas City, Walt discovered the great world of animation and submerged himself within it. While keeping his day job, he began making Laugh-O-Gram ad films and animation shorts with artist Ub Iwerks, whom he met working at the Art Studio. Laugh-O-grams Films soon went bankrupt, and Walt, moved to California with very little money in his pocket (Walter Elias Disney). Walt Disney started the Walt Disney Company with very little to no money and with no connections around Hollywood. He literally had nothing but his creativity and a simple idea. That idea was to create animation and cartoons for the county to enjoy. Walt Disney wasn’t concerned about how much money he made from his cartoons, he just wanted to keep doing what he was compassionate about, to make animation. Walt Disney represents the hard-working, determined American, and a lot can be learned from studying his life. He brought joy, happiness, and a common means of communication to everyone in every country. His visions brought everyone closer to the future, while telling them of the past. Not only did Disney’s dreams come true, but with his works, he touched and made a lot of kids’ dreams come true. Disney was one of a kind and there will never be another Walt
As a young child Disney had many interests mainly in the arts. He went from drawing to animation to acting. He kept learning new things and ended up being very successful when he combined all three of those things. He had people not like his stuff, steal his films, and had the majority of his workers protest and quit. All of these things would of been good reasons for him to stop, but of course Disney did not for he was obsessed with being the best. The reason he started doing his animation was to make people laugh and enjoy themselves. Even during The Great Depression he succeeded in making people enjoy themselves once in awhile. Walt Disney started drawing at a very young age. When he was nine he sold paintings and drawings to his neighbors. He liked believing that the characters would come to life by making a flip book. When Disney was in high school he took animation classes, photography classes and drew animation for his high school paper. Walt was the kind of person who drove himself to make his dreams come true. His wife, Lilly was unable to wake him up one morning and she called the doctor who prescribed a long trip for rest and relaxation. Walt wanted each of the dwarfs in “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” to be a distinct individual. The solution was to create names for them that would reflect their personalities. Unfortunately his addiction to nicotine, lead to a tumor in his lungs that took over his life on December 15th 1966 when he was only 65 years old. In creating Disney stories and movies, Walt Disney demonstrated that he was a true visionary. His acclaimed imagination wasn’t always apparent, though. It has been said that Walt was fired from a job at the Kansas City Star newspaper because of a lack of creativity (Brown). Years later, Disney purchased ABC, which owned the Kansas City Star. How ironic that he was fired from a company because he wasn’t creative enough and then ended up owning it because of his creativity. Walt Disney is one of the most significant individuals of our time. His distinguished business acumen and abounding creativity enthused children for generations.

Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago Illinois. Despite this, he lived in Marceline, Kansas for a majority of his childhood. He and his family worked and lived on a small farm and, during his free time, would use his imagination to doodle animals which he would sell to friends and neighbors. In 1911, Walt’s father fell ill and the Disney family moved to Kansas city. There, Walt and his brother Roy delivered newspapers for their father. They would wake up at ungodly hours, like three in the morning, and work seven days a week. Even with school and his job, Walt still found time for his drawings. After completing middle school, the Disney family moved back to Chicago, where Walt would then graduated from high school. During the tail end of World War I, he joined the Red Cross and served for nine months in France. He transported officers, transported supplies, and drove ambulances.
