Disney MGM Studios versus Universal Studios
"Mom, can we go to Florida" is a common phrase heard when school is out. Deciding where to go and what to see is a very hard decision for cash strapped parents. Picking one park is even harder when they are both five minutes apart from each other. When you want to see top amusement parks, you have a choice of two of the biggest names in the Industry, Disney-MGM or Universal. Both parks offer a different experience, yet they started with the same goal in mind, entertain the guest.
Both Disney-MGM Studios and Universal Studios draw their theme and inspiration from film and television. They both offer rides based on television and movies, some of which can be fun, educational, or a look behind the scenes of the art of making movies. The studios are both working film and television production centers. The size of each park is a major separating factor.
Nearly half of Disney-MGM is off limits to guest except by guided tour, while Universal is virtually all open for exploration. Unlike Disney-MGM, Universal's backlot is open for the public to walk among the movie sets. Universal informs people that they are a working picture and television studio, and only incidentally a tourist attraction. Guests are more likely to see a movie or picture in production at Universal then at Disney-MGM. With Universal being completely open to guest, the size difference become readily apparent, while trying to navigate around the different rides and attractions in the parks.
Attractions at both parks are excellent, though Disney-MGM rides are designed to move people on and off faster. Each park competes with one another to build better rides for their guest. The rides at both parks break new ground in engineering, power, and originality. Both parks offer 3-D simulation rides, Roller coasters, and stunt shows. Waiting to ride the rides has changed considerably since Universal started operations.
FastPass is a program that lets you set appointment times for rides. This was first introduced in Universal and largely ignored by the other amusement parks. In 1999, Disney-MGM started using this program on certain rides. FastPass allows a rider to get a reservation for a set time instead of having to wait in line. This helped cut down waiting times at both parks.
A basic of Disney theme parks is the Main Street USA zone. This section features highly in all of the parks, usually coming right after the entrance. Key services like Guest Relations are located in this section, inside the "City Hall" (HK Disney Source, 2014). There are a number of elements to the Main Street, USA exhibit, and these will be discussed along with the history of Main Street USA in this paper. In particular, how the different elements of Main Street USA work together are covered. The concept has proven to be long-lasting, even across cultures, because of its magical portrayal of idealized American life, which draws heavily on Walt Disney's own childhood experiences.
Disney World is a magical and fun place for a family of four. The sound of excitement filling the air, kids jumping and dancing around waiting to start their day at Disney. But as we know going to Disney is not as easy as it sounds. You need to budget your way to get to Disney World. Saving and planning is your first priority. How are you going to get there and where are you going to stay when you get down to Florida. Most important of all, well to the kids, the Disney Park, and which ones to go to. Wanting to go to and actually going to Disney World is two different things.
Traveling to an amusement park is a family’s finest way to bond, but is it worth the time and drive to attend just any amusement park? This essay will compare and contrast Six Flags San Antonio, SeaWorld San Antonio, and Disney World Florida from price range, food, and the variety of rides.
Start with the first important difference between Walt Disney and Universal Studio in point of the theme
My opinion though is that Universal Studios Orlando is awesome and fun that a lot of people will enjoy. Some information about Universal Studios is that it has a lot of different types of rides. They have different sections of the park with different types of themes like the Harry Potter theme. That is one of its biggest attractions to the park. There is so much to do at the park you can go on rides, eat at restaurants, or just walk around the park
Universal Studios is an action pack theme park were you can go on a quest with Shrek and find his wife princes Fiona or help the min in black kill aliens in an alien hunt to save society. Universal is also known for the character interactions, while walking to our next you I ran into a transformer patrolling the streets making sure we get to our next ride safe, then I seen the minions from despicable me waving and talking to people. Universal also have a variety of other things to do such as shows. One of my favorite shows is the blue man group. The blue man group Is a musical and somewhat of a comedy show using your everyday things an instruments such as, a garbage can, glass bottles, glass plates and many more. After attending the park, we went back to the hotel to get dinner and bowl at the hotels bowling alley called
Upon walking into Universal Studios again after spending the entire day there, is like walking into a whole new place. Outside the walls it’s business as usual, reality. But after walking in its like stepping into an actual horror movie. When walking into other amusement parks for horror night they all look the same, and Universal Studios is no different but for them it just works. They have many actors walking around playing the part of the characters we see in Hollywood’s scariest movies and you live out your own horr...
The figures of attendance at the Universal Studios as compared to Disneyland state that the former’s annual attendance is less than even half of the later.
What exactly does Disney do? Disney applies technology to the Florida area. Technology has allowed for hundreds of acres of Florida land to be safely destroyed by means of controlled burning. With the help of technology, Disney has transported lonely zoo animals and put them in their “original” surroundings once again. Technology uprooted pieces of Africa to better care for African anim...
Florida is home to the world's most famous park - Disneyworld. This magical world of Mickey located in Orlando continues to attract the most visitors than any other amusement park in the country. Inside you can amuse yourself and the family with 4 theme parks which consist of Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom. A treat to these parks is the ultimate answer to every child's dream.
After his first film business failed, artist Walt Disney and his brother Roy started a film studio in Hollywood in 1923. The first Mickey Mouse cartoon, Plane Crazy, was completed in 1928. Steamboat Willie, the first cartoon with a soundtrack, was the third production. The studio’s first animated feature film was Snow White in 1937, followed by Fantasia and Pinocchio in the 1940s. Disneyland, the theme park developed largely by Walt, opened in 1955 in Anaheim, California. The television series, the Mickey Mouse Club, was produced from 1955 to 1959, and the Disney weekly television series (under different names, including The Wonderful World of Disney) ran for 29 straight years. Disneyland is considered a magical place. Some might even consider it “better than real” (Louise 162). It is a place where families can have fun together and bond. It has been running successfully for over fifty years. But how did Disneyland come to be? It did not simply pop up one night out of nowhere. Disneyland came to be through three events; the childhood of Walt Disney, the idea for an amusement park, and the building of this “better than real” place.
The company that I choose to explore is The Walt Disney Company. Walt Disney started the Disney Brothers studio in 1926, after years of working as a cartoonist. I selected this company due to the fact I am a fan of their products and services. Disney produced some of my favorite films like Aladdin, Hook and The Lion King. After I visited their website, I discovered that Disney owns multiple media outlets, in such areas as film, Internet, music, broadcasting, publishing and recreation. According to Disney’s “The mission of The Walt Disney Company is to be the one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information. Using our portfolio of brands to differentiate our content, service and consumer products, we seek to develop the most creative, innovative and profitable entertainment experiences and related products in the world”. The Disney brand is doing exactly what their mission states.
Universal Studios is also known for its theme parks that highlight the productions of film and television outputted by their studios, these being located in Hollywood, Orlando, Japan and Singapore.
