As the new HR director of a large corporation I would actively conduct research on discrimination and non-discrimination policies. I would want to make sure I cover every area or form of discrimination. Many companies in my experience simply follow the rules of that particular state. I find this insufficient because many states have different laws and/or ideas of what or who can be considered as being harassed. Being an international company I will make sure that I follow the guidelines of federal law and taking in consideration that the company will be working closely with those from Asian background. The policy I would create would be a follows: Non-Discrimination Policy The Watson Corporation is committed to a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Each individual has the right to work in a professional atmosphere that promotes Equal Employment Opportunity and prohibits discriminatory practices which includes harassment. Therefore, the Watson Corporation has committed itself to the following No-Discrimination policy. • The Watson Corporation has developed this policy to ensure that all its employee can work in an environment free from harassment, discrimination and retaliation. • The Watson Corporation will make every effort to ensure that all concerns are familiar with this policy and aware that any complaint of violation of these policies will be investigated and resolved swiftly. • The Watson Corporation will post our Equal Opportunity Policy Statement on the employee website at http://watsoncop.org and the bulletin board main lobby in the central office located 1980 Hall, New York, NY 10001. As the Director of HR, I am committed to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity... ... middle of paper ... ...ages individuals who believe that they are being harassed to promptly advise the harasser that his/her behavior is not welcome and will not be tolerated. Conclusion The Watson Corporation has developed this policy to ensure that all of its employees can work in an environment free from discrimination, harassment, or retaliation. The Watson Corporation will post the Non-Discrimination Policy in easily accessible places to include nut not limited to bulletin boards, briefing rooms, conference rooms, briefing books, and each employee will read and sign a copy of this policy upon being hired. Because this policy is so important I would also have the CEO of the company to make a brief statement in regards to him/her agreeing with the policy. This will let the employees know that the HR department and the CEO will not tolerate any type discrimination or harassment.
