Have you ever felt like you have gotten treated different than someone else and you think that it is because of your race? Everyone has a time or two in their lives when they feel that they are being discriminated against and it isn’t right. There are times when certain races are treated differently and it needs to change. In today’s society, there are many workplaces and even schools that do some things that could be considered discriminating and harmful. If we do not put an end to this it could change all of society. The children of this generation will see the way some people are treated and think that it is ok to treat them badly. Discrimination can be hurtful and humiliating. It can mean people miss out on educational opportunities or jobs because of someone else’s prejudice and intolerance (Resmovits 2014). “It means that they are not treated as an individual with their own personality and talents. Instead they are treated unfairly because they happen to be a certain color” (U.S. Government n.d.). If the parents of the student see how their son or daughter is getting treated differently they will then have to move their child to another school which they think is a better fit. By moving, the child then loses all of his or her friends and must start over. “Public school students of color get more punishment and less access to veteran teachers than their white peers” (Resmovits 2014). “Discrimination is not only in the workplace, it is also in schools and is effecting how some students are learning” (FindLaw 2015). People are starting to see it everywhere. “There are even some cops who have been seen treating two races differently” (Resmovits 2014). “There was an article that talks about how in 2008, 34,000 discrimination claims were filed, we need to stop this problem before it gets even worse” (Ambramson n.d.). It is only getting worse in our generation and it we continue to let it worsen, our kids and even grandkids will be paying for
