Imagine being disappointment all the time even if it does not matter if you are standing by good or evil. Many people can’t control their disappointment and some control it by replacing it. The disappointment made by Steinbeck in Of Mice and Men appears to be intentional and several characters seem to depict it throughout the novel. Basically people dreamed of a better life, a life without poverty. Even though every character has disappointment in their lives, three of the characters that stood out for me were Candy, Curley’s wife, and Curley.
Candy is an old one handed man with a tough hard working life at the ranch. From him having one hand, losing his old dog, and losing his dream in the novel, his old sad life is full of disappointment. His name is ironic as his life is anything but sweet. The only people …show more content…

She could have been an actress or at least someone important but instead she is trapped on a ranch in a loveless marriage and she does not have any real saying or spot on the ranch because of her sexuality. Her husband, Curley, already had a really bad temper but all of the sudden it got worse when they got married. Curley’s wife emerges as a very interesting character. Although her purpose is rather simple in the book’s opening pages because she was known as the tramp, tart, and bi**h that threatens to destroy male happiness and longevity. Her introduction to the audience was already enough disappointment. When she confronts Lennie, Candy, and Crooks in the stable, she admits to feeling a kind of shameless dissatisfaction with her life. I always thought that Curley’s wife always had been a target from the beginning.
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, was a pretty good book in my opinion. I believe his weakness was that there was a lot disappointments. I think most of the characters had disappointment with themselves and some with
