Technology in education is a huge advantage. Not only for students, but for the teachers as well. As technology advances and more software is available for teaching, lessons become more and more individualized. Students like using technology because it can cater to their specific learning style. It allows for greater student collaboration and students have a wide selection of up to date information. Some teachers even prefer online classes due to the many advantages of a purely technology based curriculum. With the help of technology teachers can increase participation, individualize their lessons, and connect with each student more effectively. The classroom is extended beyond its four walls and it allows teachers to identify faster if any …show more content…
When creating presentations students can include auditory narratives (Fose 5-6). Kinesthetic or bodily learners like demonstrations then can perform the task themselves. They prefer active, hands on type of teaching. Some suggestions for the use of technology include, scavenger hunts on the web, about a specific topic from class, and the use of WebQuest. WebQuest involves “role-playing, teamwork, and the utilization of higher-level thinking skills such as synthesis and problem solving” (Fose 6). The last of the learning styles created by Gardner is the interpersonal learner. These students rely on interactions with other students to learn. Putting them in charge of online discussions can cater to their natural abilities to moderate and mediate. Group activities is also something that this learning style enjoys, creating group media presentations will be an enjoyment for them (Fose 6-7). The naturalist learner was added in 1983 after further understanding of the brain (Fose 1). These students learn best through interactions with the real, or natural, world. They are usually very environmentally conscious and enjoy
Technology can enhance class communications by offering many different ways to reach parents and students. The use of different technologies can help teachers to answer student questions as well as continue a class discussion outside of class. This is helpful for both the student and teacher because it allows the teacher to see which students are comprehending the material they are learning.
From personal experience technology has improved the way I learn and has made it easier to students to collaborate with each other in order to improve our learning. To conclude, technology should be used in school’s curriculum and instruction because of improved communication, innovations to come and convenience to both the students and the teachers.
Technology has evolved rapidly in the past decades and has impacted society in both positive and negative areas. Specifically, the educational setting that has embraced technology by providing teachers with a variety of tools such as computers and LED projectors to engage students in the material. In addition, many schools have provided students with their own laptops to use during the school year to develop the technological, critical thinking and cooperative learning skills to compete in our global developed society. However, as teenagers develop more computer skills, they pay less attention. Many educators and parents now question the effect that technology may have on their students’ and their future, While technology and education
Technology is growing every day. We use technology for everything we do, sometimes without even thinking about it. In our world, these advancements are used for communicating, entertainment, and education as well as others. Since technology is so ingrained into our lives, how much we use and depend on it is often not thought about. Our education system is on the front end of using new technology in classrooms. More and more class room and teachers are weaving it into their lesson plans and making it more available for students to use in the classroom. Technology is changing the way students are educated in America and across the world. In this paper I will discuss several ways that this can be seen and improved.
With the widespread use of digital technology, the classroom teaching approaches and practices went through remarkable changes. When compared to the past ten years, today the classrooms look entirely different in terms of programs and technical tools used to enhance the learning skills of students.
Assessing student progress in the classroom is a vital part in being a good teacher. When teachers assess student progress it allows teachers to not only see how well the students are comprehending the material being taught, but also how well the teacher is instructing his/her class. Without teachers assessing students both through formative and summative assessments teachers have very little way of knowing how well their students are learning and how well they are doing their jobs. There are a ton of ways technology can be used to help teachers assess their students. This essay will cover the different types of technology that can help teachers assess their students and the pros and cons to using technology to do so.
Within technology comes the gateway to almost everything that is out in the internet, it opens a whole new world to the students and the teachers that use them. The outcome of the uses, if they happen to be good or bad, come from the restrictions and the management of usage of said technology inside a classroom. Educators see firsthand how the used in their daily lives influence how a student learns. Thanks to technology not only has students and teachers changed the ways they learn and teach, learning itself has changed as well. It is not only crucial to have the technological tools needed in a classroom, but also an educator that can mend and mold the technology to their rightful use. The use of technology in a classroom not only expands the tools and gadgets, not to mention adds much needed knowledge that will help students later on in life, but also brings a whole new and better way to teach and learn.
Michael J. Bugeja, director of the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University and author of“Facing the Facebook” in The Chronicle of Higher Education, states that the initial purpose of having access to the Internet in the classroom was to give students the opportunity to conduct research. However, this privilege is rapidly being used as a means for students to not pay attention during class. A poll was taken at Iowa State University where 20,247 out of the 25,741 enrollees were registered on Facebook (Bugeja 1). Social networking sites such as Facebook have had some negative effects in academia such as “institutions seeking to build enrollment learn that ‘technology’ rates higher than ‘rigor’ or ‘reputation’” (2), that there has been improper use of the freedom to use technology in the classroom, that employers and parents check Facebook to see what users have been doing, and that technology is an overall distraction in the classroom.

For the teacher, computer technology can lead to more efficient time management in record keeping and developing lessons plans as well as the ease of conducting any kind of research and communication without having to leave the classroom.
Technology has become convenient in all aspects of twenty-first century life and its use in the field of education is no exception. Technology is beneficial to today’s classrooms because it allows teachers to engage students in more active participation and learning, assists with formative assessment, and better enables teaching to all students possessing various learning styles and preferences. Technology has revolutionized the nation in recent years and its role in education is vital. There are many different uses of technology in education, hardware and software, and the methods and modes are constantly changing and evolving to better meet the needs of teachers and students. Formative assessment in and of itself can be an incredibly useful tool to teachers allowing them to gage student understanding and comprehension. A teacher’s ability to utilize technology effectively can have a positive and lasting effect on both teaching style and student learning.
Not only is the thought of viruses scaring off schools from using technology but so is the cost of the whole program. From the initial cost of the computer or tablets to the maintenance that goes into each computer. This can all be very costly and is often a deal breaker when talking about incorporating technology into school systems. In order for the schools to see this as a wise investment they have to have many plans to solve most of the problems that could occur. They are not going to be able to solve all of the problems only with time and more experiments will those problems be fixed.
Technology has many different effects on education, one of them being enhancing the students learning. Technology may enhance the students learning and may assist most students in achieving their academic standards. When technology and appropriate teaching methods are combined, technology may increase the academic achievement. Positive effects have been found in all major subject areas, from preschool to higher education, both regular and special needs students. Educational technology has been found to have a positive effect on a student’s attitude toward learning and on self-concepts. The introduction of technology into the learning environment has allowed the learning to be more student-centered, to encourage group learning, and helps to stimulate an increase in the student-teacher interaction. Technology has shown a shift from a focus on a student’s memorization to their problem solving. Through technology’s use, learning opportunities have become unrestricted by time or place, allowing lifelong learning. Student use of technology through communications can also help to enhance access to a career and continued education. Students are more likely to use a computer to get help because they can to it themselves. Technology is helping students to become independent.
Technology properly used in the classroom has many advantages to a student’s learning. Technology can help students become more involved in their own learning process, which is not seen in the traditional classroom. It allows them to master basic skills at their own rate rather than being left behind. Teachers and students alike can connect to real life situations by using technology in the classroom; this can also help to prepare students for real world situations. Technology can be used to motivate students as well as to offer more challenging opportunities. It can also be used as a visualization tool to keep students interested in the subject that is being taught. When technology is used effectively, students have the opportunity to develop skills that they may not get without the use of technology (Cleaver, 2011). Assessing and monitoring students is easier on the teacher because of the ability to use technology in the classroom. When technology is used correctly it offers limitless resources to a classroom atmosphere.
The introduction of technology into education has revolutionized the teaching quality and learning outcome in the last ten years. The integration of technology into lectures by teachers in classroom has become so natural that both teachers and learners consider computers and their related applications for instruction are “a routine component of the classroom and educational processes in general” (Nuldén, 1999 cited in Buzzard et al., 2011, pp.131-139).
