Within my first lesson teaching independently it became evident throughout the lesson that my overall preparation and planning was solely aimed at students who are declared as ‘on task’. Which resulted in the atmosphere of the lesson becoming unsettled, as students of both higher and lower ability where becoming restless because the work prepared was not challenging as well as sufficiently stimulating enough for some students or was not understood clearly by others. At this moment I knew the correct learning environment was not being provided consequently resulting with the limitation of student progression

This gave me the desire to develop my teaching style initially by gaining knowledge and understanding of differentiation. Personally this was an experience that helped to broaden my teaching techniques including the approach. Reflection upon what was learnt to ensure prevention of a repeat occurrence within future lessons being delivered.

My initial and developmental placement has given me the experience of teaching students of diverse ability providing the opportunity to gratefully appreciate the significance of inclusion through planning differentiation methods. An insight in to how this contributes with the flow, overall effectiveness of the delivery and guarantee understanding within the lesson. By spending extra time planning to ensure each student is being challenged resulting in delivering a student centred lesson, in order for pupils to succeed plus the opportunity to flourish within the subject area. Student centred learning was addressed recently within primary schools reinstating Maria Montessori approach of students learning through play.
