Differences of Sex and Gender Gender is not the way our society sees it, it is more than just your sex. Gender is about the roles a person is given either masculinity or femininity. Gender roles differ depending on whether you are a girl or boy, but these gender roles come from generation to generation. For many generations, parents have given us these roles like males being the ones in charge of the household while women are supposed to stay home and be housewives. Sex and gender aren’t the same things, they are different. Sex is what body parts you are born with, which define whether you are a male or female. Gender identity is one of the biggest components of the gender roles that we are given as children.

I believe that everyone should be able to do whatever they want without people judging them by their sex or gender. Everyone should be treated equally no matter if you’re a female or male it shouldn’t matter. While I was growing up in my family all of us were seen equally no matter if you were a female or male. In this chapter about sex and gender, it still shows us that no matter what females are still not seen equally or getting paid as much as the male does. I disagree with this because female are capable of doing what males do and they should be getting paid as much as they do. In our society though several families still believe that males should be the one that works and that they should be the man of the house and females should stay at home and be housewives. I disagree with this a lot because that’s not true and little by little females are working and are being seen different.
