Differences Between Grace and Nature

As we walk through life we face unending trials that will proceed to challenge us every day; we will fall but we will place our selves back on two feet and continue by realizing another lesson was learned. While viewing the film, Tree of Life, vivid images are displayed that give examples of how people will work through problems by approaching them with different characteristics. In The Tree of Life, a mother and father are blessed with three wonderful sons. Clearly two opposites attracted to each other to create three beautiful creatures and their love expanded as they began to raise their boys. However, it is made apparent that this set of parents have very divergent approaches on how they advance through life; especially with how they raise their children. The mother is the type of women who will wipe any tear off a child’s face that is to fall but the father is the kind of man who will bring shame to his sons for any tear that would fall. The mother is the example of how grace and mercy looks while the father will portray harsh manners of how realistic nature exemplifies throughout life. Most affected by these two dramatically emotional differences is the oldest boy Jack. Constantly he observes the incompatible parenting techniques and battles consistently with himself as he struggles to find which way to approach life; is it to be like the graceful swan his mom portraits or act like his barraged father? “The ideal man bears the accidents of life with dignity and grace, making the best of circumstances” (Aristotle). ...er. In Tree of Life, they depict these two qualities and portray them vividly by having a main character be an example of grace and another main character exemplify nature. Throughout the film, the strengths and weaknesses of each trait are continually shown; especially emphasizing on the scenes with secretive imagery, creation, and real life scenarios. The film presents the outcomes of how choosing to either live with grace or live with nature will effect the surrounding people and creatures that pertain to your life.
