The topic I am interested in is prison and jail. I am interested in this topic because I have been watching lots of tv shows involving police officers arresting people and dealing with prisoners in jail and prison. When I started watching “Cops” and “Campus PD” I wondered what happens to the criminals when they are arrested and taken to jail or prison. When I started wondering this question I started to watch Beyond, Scared, Straight and it shows what some prisoners do when they aren’t in their jail cell or in their cell block. When the criminals are not in their jail cells or in their cell blocks they come in and talk to kids and teenagers on Beyond, Scared, Straight that are messing up and may soon end up in jail or prison. When it comes to having doctors and therapists in jail or prison there is only two or three doctors and therapists able to attend to thousands of criminals that get hurt. Furthermore, if jails take away blind spots then that would lower the amount of violence that takes place on a daily basis. The budget that jails and prisons spend with keeping criminals locked up and the amount of things they provide for these people locked up is huge already if they spend more it will make it harder to run a jail or prison.. This article does a good job at talking about things that prisoners could do to avoid violence and getting hurt in jail so they don’t have to wait to see a doctor or therapist. Some of these examples are getting a job in jail so that way your mind isn’t set on either getting your butt kicked or beating someone else up, it’s set on just working. This article lacks telling the acts of violence criminals do when in jail or prison to other criminals and telling how bad the injury is. For example if a guy corners another guy in a blind spot he could beat him so bad that he will be bleeding and he would need stitches to fix that problem.
