According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the employment in the field of Medical Sonography is predicted to grow 45.5% between 2010 and 2020. The growth is among the fastest rates in all healthcare jobs. As a result, as the demand grows for sonographers, so will the salaries (BLS). The attractive salaries and flexible work hours, as well as the diversity of options available and the lack of geographical limitations on employment opportunities, make Ultrasound an attractive career field (BLS). Most employers prefer to hire diagnostic imaging workers with professional certification. Also many insurance providers and Medicare pay for procedures, but only if certified. According to the BLS, Medical Sonography is on its list of the best jobs of 2013. Diagnostic medical sonography is where sonographer coordinate high-recurrence sound waves into a patient's body using particular gear to analyze or screen a patient's restorative condition. As portrayed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, some other branches of diagnostic sonography consist of: vascular technologist, also called diagnostic imaging workers, operate special imaging equipment to create images or to conduct tests. The images and test results help physicians assess and diagnose medical conditions.
“The best part of my job is the satisfaction I get from being able to help diagnose patients.” (Career 1) This quote from the article “Ultrasound Technician at A Hospital” explain how helping diagnose patient is a very positive effect to a Prenatal Sonography Technician. This career can be genuinely rewarding for those who decide to pursue it. Prenatal Sonography Technicians are respected because they assist a pregnant woman by performing ultrasound: let parents know what the gender is.
Ultrasound Technicians are very valuable in the world of health care. Also known as Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, an Ultrasound Technician uses special machines and equipment that operates on sound waves to determine or diagnose medical problems for patients. There are specializations within this field in which some individuals explore. For instance, areas of specialization includes but not limited to; pregnancy, heart health, gynecology, and abdominal sonography. Although each specializing branch has its own distinctive function, they all involve probing the body to facilitate doctors with diagnoses.
A diagnostic medical sonographer should hold many skills to do well at this growing profession. Some of these may include compassion and interpersonal
Medical Sonographer, a career that uses ultrasound equipment to look along with testing parts of a patient's body, is a career I wish to pursue for the social skills I will gain, the amount of pay I will earn, in addition with the work setting I will be in. . Furthermore, the stability of any job in the medical industry is secure. According to Danny Gonzales in “Careers and Colleges” on being a radiology technician, "There are always going to be sick people--so you're guaranteed a job, and salaries are increasing all the time." Despite the changes in technology, environment, or world leadership, there will always be sickness and disease. Job stability is an important variable in the twenty first century. Many men and women lose their jobs daily due to economic changes. Employment of radiologic and technologists is projected to grow nine percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. As the population grows older, there will be an increase in medical conditions that require imaging as a tool for making
“Employment of physicians and surgeons is projected to grow 18 percent from 2012 to 2022” ("Anesthesiologists"). This is a very good thing for upcoming physicians and surgeons because the there will be a large demand in the future do too the rapid increase in the world 's population. As well as the aging of the current generation, as this generation gets older the amount of physicians needed will jump because most of them will require medical assistance once old age starts to overtake them, and they become feeble.
Rebecca is a 31yo G2 P1001 who was seen for an ultrasound evaluation and FTS. She overall denies any major medical disorders other than she is hypothyroid and on replacement therapy. She also has a history of a LEEP procedure but that occurred in 2012. She did have a full-term delivery over 2 years later that went to 39 ½ weeks with an 8 lb 12 oz infant. Overall on today’s assessment, she has no complaints.
Sonohysterography. For this test, medical personnel inject a saline solution into the cervix to provide a better ultrasonography image.
The ultrasound is a medical imaging application. Ultrasounds use high-frequency sound waves. From there, the ultrasound machine creates images from the sound waves. The sound waves allow people to view the structure and organs located in the body (Ultrasound: Medline). Many professionals use the ultrasounds to view many parts of the body, such as the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, the liver and other sorts of organs (Ultrasound: Medline). However majority of the time, ultrasounds are used during pregnancy. Doctors use ultrasounds to view the progress and health of the fetus. The return time of the waves allow people to understand and acknowledge the depth of the reflecting surface. Throughout the mid-century, the ultrasound was used for non-destructive testing of materials. Also, the ultrasound was used as diagnostic tools in 1942, it was used to locate brain tumors (Lecture). In 1950, the ultrasound was used for presenting 2D gray-scale images and in 1965, the ultrasound was used for real-time imaging (Lecture). A professional, technician/doctor moves a device, known as a transducer over a certain part of the patient’s body. The transducer then sends out sound waves, which eventually bounce off the tissues inside the body (Ultrasound: Medline). The transducer captures the waves that bounce back. Fortunately, ultrasounds are known to be one o...
Then the transducer or probe receives the sound waves coming back (“Difference Between Sonography” par. 2). A computer attached to the device then receives the sound waves to produce images of the body. This technology does not use any kind of radiation which makes it safer than radiography. This is why many patients prefer sonography over radiography. With sonography, doctors can see moving images of the inside of the body. “If patients are suffering from any swelling or infection or pain inside the body then doctors refer to a sonography test” (“Difference Between Sonography” par. 2). This technology is a common technology used on a pregnant woman to see the babies development in the mother's womb. “This technology also can develop images of other body organs such as heart, kidney, blood vessels, liver, gallbladder, uterus, and so on and help doctors to determine any abnormalities” (“Difference Between Sonography” par. 2). Sonography can determine diseases like cancer in a patient's organs. Education for sonography is much shorter than in radiography. Diagnostic medical sonography is one of the fastest growing occupations in the country (“Sonography Education Requirements” par. 1). An associate's degree and professional certification are all that is needed to enter the field of sonography. Although a professional certification is not a
