Diagnostic Imaging Technologist: Personal Statement

I am a patient and caring person who enjoy helping people. My ambition to become a Diagnostic Imaging technologist developed when I was working at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. During this time, I worked as a temporary support worker who helped patients to attend their scheduled medical examinations at the Imaging Department. I was inspired and motivated when I saw radiographers worked on X-Rays, MRI, CT and Ultrasound scanners to produce body images which were used for disease diagnosis. Even though I was not performing a technical job, this experience installed me with a positive impression towards my decision to change a career to the Radiography. Despite my commitment I had to this course, I was strongly discouraged by the absence of a guaranteed clinical placement which is a precondition for the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) approval. This would limit my hope of graduating as a Biomedical Scientist. Therefore, I took a difficult decision to withdraw from my course. Alternatively, I found that Diagnostic Imaging degree is the best option and I feel more optimistic about it. Moreover, I conducted a career search through NHS, Society of Radiographers and other career websites to understand the role of Diagnostic radiographer. I believe this degree is relatively more practical, and without doubt the most suitable route to achieve my future expectations. Furthermore, during my time at University, I noticed that Biology especially Human Anatomy and Physiology grabbed my attention and indeed a preparation for my new course in Radiography. Also, this part of the degree course has contributed a major strength on the entry requirements. In this gap year, I sat for IELTS exams and I passed all modules. In the meantime, I am having Maths tuition from the ICS Learn to prepare for Edexel Maths exams on May, 2017 at Basil Paterson Tutorial College in
