I would like the gift of making a difference in the world by reaching out to children. The only way to achieve success is to work hard, put forth the effort and give your all. Children don 't always have a good support system, I would like the chance to be that support system, to show children that no matter what I will be there to help and guide them to achieve their goals. They are important and they have people that care about them and will do whatever it takes to help them along the way. Each child is unique and needs a safe, caring and stimulating atmosphere to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. Nonverbal communication can be used among a classroom filled with diversity because it works effectively across language barriers, it’s fast and you can say things without words. The speaker or listener can reflect their emotional state through their nonverbal communication. Nonverbal language can be used to control conversation and classroom behaviors. If students are talking during a lesson, I might quietly walk over and stand behind them as a nonverbal communication of please be quiet or I might make eye contact with them so they know I’m watching them, if the talking continues I might bring my finger to my mouth to communicate to be quiet and not talk. We will take an active learning approach, letting the students be the creators of knowledge. Students and myself will be in it together and can take mutual pride in what we accomplish together. I will use various instructional strategies that will address the different learning styles and needs of children. Not all students learn the same way, I plan to reach out to visual learners, auditory learners and kinesthetic learners. Reaching out to all the different types of learners will create a fun and interesting environment that will help the students succeed by being engaged in analysis, evaluation, and synthesizing concepts together. I plan on using hands on activities, technology based, cooperative learning and group discussions. I feel lecturing to much looses the interest of the students, having class discussions on the topic being taught will help students relate to the topic as it relates to themselves.
