There are similar qualities; however, there are distinctions such as purpose, content, developmental stage, collection method, and sampling. Both nursing minimum data sets provide readily available information for the use or evaluation of nursing care and staff. The systems allow comparison and contrast of nursing practice at various levels, provide vital, accurate information during critical nursing and health care discussions, and collect data necessary to conduct clinical research.
