Designing a Film Poster for S.W.A.T. I am going to design a film poster for this piece of coursework. First of all, I have to find some images of different posters - research from IT sources and non-IT sources; I will do this by using 'google advance search' on the internet and then go to the library to find some posters from the magazines. (I am going to photocopy the pictures and text which I think will be useful for my coursework.) I will select at least 12 posters by searching through the internet. I am going to start doing the coursework after I analyze those posters - I may use the advantages of the posters and try to avoid the disadvantages of them. I have got an idea to work on the film 'Harry Potter'. Therefore, I have to go on to the internet to find some images and text (e.g. the names of the director, the main character and the writer of the book, etc.). After this, I will choose some images (2 or 3) which I will use for creating my own poster. When I create the poster, I will also using different types of software to make some special effects on the poster, e.g. Publisher, Paint Shop Pro, 3D plus. I prefer to try two different kinds of arrangements. For example, change poster with different pictures or change the color of the poster or use different ways to represent the text or put the pictures and the text in different position, etc. I will compare the two pieces of work and choose a better one as the final design. Also, I have to check the errors on my poster, such as wrong spelling. After correcting them, I am gong to ask my teacher about how I can improve the coursework and he will give me some advises. I then decide to describe my final design and write about effects of using those different software. After that, I will print out my draft design (with a different layout) for the imitation to the movie premier and I ought
My poster contains images that I used to give a very brief imagery of Dr. Paul Farmer’s life. In the center I put a large photo of him so someone could see his full facial appearance. I put the logos for Duke University and Harvard University to show where he went for his schooling. I put Duke’ logo on blue construction paper to represent the school’s blue colors, and I put Harvard’s logo on red construction paper for the same reason. I put a quote on the bottom-right of the poster, because I feel this quote represents a general mentality of Dr. Paul Farmer. I put two pictures of Farmer treating Haitian patients, because the majority of his life’s work is treating poor people in Haiti. I put the picture of Haitian hands holding a cross to represent the religious belief of Haitians. Many of Farmer’s patients had trouble
When World War II broke out in 1939, many countries began using propaganda to strengthen support for the war. Countries battling in the war used propaganda to unite citizens and keep them focused on contributing to the war effort. During the World War II period, Great Britain and their allies; which included the United States and China, were one of the groups in the war that used various techniques and platforms in order to spread propaganda across their countries. One such platform that played a major role in the spread of propaganda was Britain and their allies’ use of posters to increase morale among people.
After reviewing a few videos based on United States Army propaganda while on a popular media site it was quite eerie, since I am currently enlisted within the ranks. The Army is also something that you normally see in various forms such as billboards, television, and of course the actual soldiers. I would like to examine the whole concept of what the videos represent and how it grasps the attention of the viewer, audience, or consumer. If a person is somewhat or completely against the military, after viewing the commercials the viewer might have second thoughts. Overall the videos organize the three rhetorical techniques in a unique matter to where it catches a person’s attention. I can easily say that in the area of Ethos, the videos do exceptionally well, and of course to the Army is very well known for many of its characteristics both in the homeland and overseas and of course the United States Army was established more than two hundred years ago in the year of 1775 a year before the Declaration of Independence! As for
then it is crucial that as designers we are aware of the responsibility we hold
I chose to analyze Despicable Me, an animated film geared towards a younger audience, because I was interested in examining underlying theories and messages that this film would be relaying to its viewers. Often times, when watching animated films, children are not aware of these messages, as they are absorbed by the characters, special effects, and humor. But as we have learned throughout this semester, our brains are subconsciously primed by the various surroundings we are exposed to. Since we also studied the impacts of entertainment, such as television and video games, on children, I wanted to see how a popular children’s film might also affect them.
In this stage of our development, we have come up with our final design through element D. We will use the design quite frequently in this element by reviewing the design and what obstacles we will face in the market. As a group we will have to review our design by a few things like price and distribution of our product. along with reviewing we have to see and talk about the obstacles that as a group we'll have to overcome. The merit of our design will be a big part of our project and this element. This is our business plan and attack plan for this important element.
...ing, it's going to look out of place and generally take up more space than it was designed for.
Giving students Post-It notes, students will be in their table groups and will circulate the room for our gallery walk. Students will view the images and post words or comments describing what they see using their Post-It notes around the images. After each group has seen each gallery, they will continue to stand at the last group of images they have been too. They will then read all the comments posted by that image and share their impression with the class on what they think the images represents. Ask students what the images have in common and guide a collaborative conservation to determine that all the images represent heroes.
With this short but very interesting and informative class I have just scratched the surface of the what it takes to make a full fleged film. It takes much more than I had presumed to make a movie in Hollywood. The number of people that it takes to make a minute of a movie let alone the entire movie was astonishing to me. There are many things that it takes to start making a movie but without an idea of some sort there is no movie to be made.
A Comparison Between the Film Gladiator and the Poster The poster for the film gladiator is a form of still media. They have done this poster to draw people’s interest to watching the film. I believe that they have used some very effective techniques which in my opinion work very well together. The words in the caption ‘a hero will rise’ are all affirmative. I think the word ‘hero’ is very effective because when I read the word ‘hero’ I visualise a person who is admired for doing something very brave or great in the film.
Movie posters have been around for a very, very long time. In essence they are just picture advertisements for their movies. The movie posters for action movies during the 80’s, which was a widely varied time in itself, were influenced by many things. These things ranged from the Vietnam War, the war on drugs and also things like the glorification of these wars. Colors played a large part in these posters because they tried to get their intended audience to feel a certain way and make them perform a specific action. Movie posters try to get their audience to go out and buy tickets to the movie they advertise, the way that they are set up plays a very large part in whether this happens or not.
Client(s) may be in the first stage of our design thinking sequences (Archer, 1984, p. 67), and then the designer job is to explore what is the problem, what do we want, what do they need: to produce a design to meet the requirements. The initial design problem presented to the designer may be poorly and incompletely described (McDonnell, 1997, p. 45...
Focus shall be on utilizing pre-production tools while developing the prototypes. Actual material, wherever possible, shall be used in the development of prototypes rather than having substituted parts. Make the prototypes as closer as possible to actual outputs.
A.I.: Artificial Intelligence is a Steven Spielberg science fiction drama film, which conveys the story of a younger generation robot, David, who yearns for his human mother’s love. David’s character stimulates the mind-body question. What is the connection between our “minds” and our bodies?
As one of the most popular directors in Hollywood, Christopher Nolan was known for his complex storyline and non-linear structure of the film. His most famous work including The Prestige (2006), Inception (2010), Batman series (2005, 2008, 2012), many of his work has been nominated for numerous awards. This paper mainly analyses two famous film posters from his works, The Dark Knight (2008) and Inception (2010).
