The purpose of this paper is to develop a professional plan for myself. When writing this paper, I will learn more about myself, my strengths, and my weaknesses. Writing this paper will help me realize areas I need to work on, areas that I feel confident in, and help myself critically think. I feel like writing a brief personal introduction about myself should be easier than this. As I sit here contemplating what to write I find myself wanting to write about other people and not myself. I grew up in atypical household. My mother chose a different life, and was never a part of mine. My grandparents and my father are the people who I owe my life to. Without them, I would have never been able to accomplish anything. Growing up I always punished myself on why my mother didn’t want anything to do with me. My grandmother was my mother figure, and she treated me just like a daughter. She was the one who took me prom dress shopping, who held my hand when I had a migraine, and was my shoulder to cry on when silly boys broke my heart. In 2009 my life changed forever. My grandmother passed away suddenly, and it tore the family I had apart. The house was silent for months. After what seemed like an eternity of not doing anything productive with my life after my grandmother passed away, I decided to was time to make my grandmother, grandfather and my father proud. Somehow I graduated high school in 2009 after losing the one person who meant the world to me. If it wasn’t for my best friend, I would not have made it that far. She helped me learn that I needed to do something with my life instead of dwelling on the past. In 2010, I finished a CNA program. I started working at a local nursing home, and realized that my passion in life was to hel... ... middle of paper ... ...have a thought on where they would like to work after they graduate, and if they were able to have clinical experience where they thought about working it would benefit them. I also think that ICU and ER rotations would be beneficial for a clinical setting. I feel as if students should be able to see critical patients, and be a part of taking care of them. These projects would help students critically think, and could possibly help them learn about careers they wish to seek in the future. This paper made me realize a lot about myself. It made me truly think about my strengths and weaknesses as a person, as a LPN, and as a RN student. It was motivating writing about the goals I had for myself, and thinking about the steps I need to take to reach my goals. This paper helped me realize that I do know more than I thought I did, and that there are always ways to improve.
