Feels like we been driving for days but, really it has only been about 5 hours. All I see is the green passing back then the brown land. I’m usually see houses, stores, and people when driving in the car, but not this time. I roll the window down and there’s a smell of freshly cut grass, cows, and wood burning. I’m not sure if I like the smell or if I want to throw up. I’m slowly falling asleep now.
Feels like I was sleep for about 5 minutes but really it was about an hour.
We pull into the drive way. I see a nice little house with bike in the yard. I run up to the door and go in. I see my brother and sisters. I smile and hug all of them trying not to cry because it’s been way to long.
My dad is bringing in all 2 of my bags, one with shoes one with clothes. He takes the bags to my sisters’ room.
Later that day we went to see more family I have seen in forever. All the “how are you” and “how have you been” and “I missed you” has got me tired but I don’t want to go to sleep I want to stay up all night but, I know I can’t. As I go to lay down I say good night to everyone. I’m lying...

The time was running fast and I had a couple days left to spend some time with my family and friends. At that time I realized of people I will miss, and I wouldn’t able to meet them again. Even for my parents, it was the toughest time leaving all families and friends behind and start a new life in a new place.

As I stepped out of my Jeep the hot air hit my face. The sun was high over the lake and the birds were singing their beautiful songs. The smell of clean fresh lakes and wet grass filled the air. The air was thick and humid for a mid June day.
First, we packed our bags, then we all said, “goodbye” to all of our family and friends. I was forlorn and wanted to stay. Grandpa and our dog were driving a Uhaul while my mom, dad, sister, brother and I were in the car. I was young, so I slept most of the time, I slept in the car and we stopped at hotels every night.
When I go to sleep at night, do you care? Do you even miss us? Your bottles and mistress I need to know, I need to know why are you walking away. Was it something I did? Did I make a mistake? I was raised by my mother for the majority of my infant years the reason is because my father left before I was born. He went missing for a few years and we didn’t know how he was or if he even was alive, I remember thinking to myself, if my father ever thought of us while he was “missing”. One faithful day out of the blue we received an old crusted letter and it was from my father stating that he was no longer in Mexico and was inside the United States. “What on Earth was he doing there”, I thought to myself. Over the course of my beginning years I didn’t
As I lay there resting, I closed my eyes and just soaked in the joyous sounds of the holiday. I could hear my father chatting with my grandmother, reminiscing of childhood memories and the joy of raising kids. Soft acoustic guitar melodies from the stereo sounded above the snapping and crackling of the fire. The ...
I close my eyes and I can still picture everyone there and how proud they were of me. The smile on everyones face was what made this day so memorable. When my mom came and put my dog tags on me she gave me a hug, the warmth of her against me made me feel like I was home again, and I was never gone.
Tonight, I sleep in a train station, yesterday I slept in the outskirts of a wood, tomorrow who knows where I sleep. Every night when the wafting clouds come over my head in the dark sky, however, I think it as a success. As the sun sets over the buildings, I begin to reminisce, back to my life in the army and on this very night I think it would have been a better to
