In 2024 or as close as 2020 roller derby should be an Olympic sport. I find that roller derby is more entertaining and a lot more interesting then some of the sport's that has, or is, in the Olympics. Such as canoe sprint, cycling road, golf, rowing, sailing, and table tennis, that's just the summer sports, the winter sports are, curling, luge, and skeleton. Roller derby is rapidly growing. There is at this moment 469 female roller derby teams, and in a team you need at least 12 people, so you are able to play tournaments and bouts. Knowing this knowledge if you times 469 by 12 you would get the minimum of the people playing, and that minimum is 5,628. Another strategy that is used is 2 offensive players are on each side of the opposite team's pack, before the jam starts when the whistle blows (when the jam starts) is your cue, The side that the Jammer is going through would be wide open because the brace and the person closest to the end of the side would be held back by the o on that side, the other side would be blocking the other two on the opposite team so they don't try to catch the Jammer. Not only does that drill let your humor out quicker it creates an impenetrable wall when the other Jammer tries to get through. There's a ton more strategies that teams could use and any of these strategies could go south at any moment, and if they do go south you have to think quick and try to catch the other team's Jammer. Some examples of these are Hockey, Lacrosse, Curling, Soccer, Speed skating, Basketball, Track and Field, and so on. These are all popular sports in Canada, and some of them were even developed in Canada, like basketball and Lacrosse.

As everyone knows, ice hockey is played on ice, which makes it an extremely high paced game. Unlike ice hockey, Roller hockey is played on a plastic floor that consists of many six-inch by six-inch tiles. The plastic floor makes roller hockey a much slower paced game than ice hockey. The reason that roller hockey is so much slower than ice hockey is because there is more friction. The friction is produced in the bearings of the wheels as well as between the floor and the wheels.
There are kids and students, even from a young age, who are told by their parents that they have to play a sport. These parents find it important that their kids be involved in some type of physical activity, and it is. So a little girl thinks taking a dance class would be interesting and that she would be able to please her parents by this choice of sport. But when she comes to tell them what sport she would like to take up, they tell her dance is not a sport. Even after explaining to them that if someone is good enough they can compete, which is just like any other sport, this little girl’s dream of being a competitive dancer is crushed by her parents jaded view of what is considered a sport. As a dancer myself, I can understand why people do not think dance is a sport. For my 11 years of dancing, I have been told that dancing is not a sport. I might be against this statement , but I can somewhat agree that dancing isn’t a sport. Dancing is more considered an art than a sport according to Tengaged. However, dancers are not always competing against another team, which is one reason why dance not considered a sport. Debate.org states that people do not think that there is much physical activity required to dance. Lastly, dancers are not scored by how many points or goals they make, but by a panel of judges.

Sport specialization, means to practice and train for only one sport. Some people feel it is better to specialize rather than play multiple sports. There are good and bad that come from being a single sport athlete, but there are good and bad for being a multiple sport athlete.
When I think of what it means to be Canadian, one of the first things that come to mind is hockey. This is true for many Canadian’s as hockey was and is an integral piece of the formation of the national identity. However, when people think of playing hockey their attention usually turns to the men in the National Hockey League or other top men’s leagues and tournaments. Even so, Canada has come a long way from its beginnings, when women were not even considered persons under the law until 1929. While it has taken many decades for women to receive more recognition in the world of sport, today shows great improvements from the past. A key reason that women are not treated the same way as men in regards to hockey is due to how the game began;
As a 29-year-old medical school applicant for which I have spent 23 of them in the world of competitive figure skating. For 19 years I was a competitive figure skater, competing at both the local and national level. Figure skating was my way of life, it guided every decision I made, whether I could go hang out with friends, go on family vacations, or what types of activities I could do so that I would not become injured, hampering my skating career. In the middle of my season in 2009 such injury occurred, I was diagnosed with a bulging disc partially caused by a grade one spondylolisthesis between my lumbar and sacral vertebrae. The five-hour practices four times a week, the hours of time spent conditioning, the tears, the sweat, the blood, the pain, and the injuries experienced throughout the season, all come down to the second your team walks on the mat. Only the best of the best will have what it takes to come out on top and prove that their hard work has paid off. Does this sound like a sport? Absolutely. Now, what if it was mentioned that there is only have two minutes and thirty seconds to give it your all, does this change your opinion of this mystery sport being an authentic sport? It should not. So if all of the above examples fit into the same amount of athleticism as other sports, why is cheerleading not considered a sport? If the courts were to rule cheerleading as a sport, how would they go about it? Should all-star and school cheerleading be voted a sport? Should none of it? The answer to this is all-star cheerleading should be ruled as not only a sport, but also as a varsity sport. Competitive and collegiate cheerleading should be ruled as a sport because of the danger, the rigor and the popularity that this athletic activity demands. Cheerleading is overall called an athletic activity which is practically no different than calling it a sport. Different name. Same meaning.
Sports can help many at- risk youths. In order to participate in sports you need to be committed and willing to work hard. You also have to learn to respect others and accept that winning isn’t the only measure of success. Losing can build character as well. When youth participate in a sports they enjoy, they are less likely to engage in behaviors that are harmful or dangerous to themselves and others. It is for these reasons schools should strive to maintain athletic programs for their students.

The Olympics is a mega sport event which is presented once every four years and it has become a golden opportunity for hosts to emerge as a strong country. Hosting the Olympics is a big thing for every country and they receive worldwide attention from the preparation period until the actual event. However, hosting the Olympics comes with heavy stakes and experts tend to argue about the appropriateness for the countries to host it. There may be people who oppose with hosting the Olympics, however, the country rebranding, the economy hike and also the pride and patriotism of citizens just demonstrate the need of hosting the Olympics for the development of the country.

The Olympics have been a worldwide tradition since the eighth century BC, but it has hardly benefited us as a species. Every time we have the Games, our resources are abused in order to create the Olympics we desire. Huge amounts of money are used to build venues and make medals, only leading up to the countries who host the Games going into debt afterwards. There are only rare cases in which the countries earn money from hosting the Olympics, but most of the time the debt that they get themselves into take years, or even decades to pay off. You might ask yourself, why do we even host the Olympics, if it has these huge disadvantages? The answer is because we want pride for our countries, no matter how temporary it is. Knowing this, we can safely say, that the Olympic Games do not help us grow as a species.
