It was a Saturday afternoon around 6:00pm when I was busy getting ready to go to the Niki Minaj concert held at the saddle-dome in Calgary. I had just gotten off of work late and was rushing around the house getting my things organized for the most exciting night of my life. I had already pre planned my outfit the night before and had a perfect idea of how the night was gonna go. It was 6:30pm when I was just leaving my house to pick up my friend, until I received the dreaded text from her saying “ Sorry, I can’t make it to the concert”. Furious as I was I knew I had to quickly find a replacement before the concert started. I picked up my phone to dial any of my other friends but unfortunately all of them had made other plans. I was left with …show more content…
She was shy and dyslexic and didn’t fit in as much as a normal kid would have. I remember playing on the play ground at school with my friends and Laine would come up and ask to play with us. With her being 3 years younger, my friends thought she wasn’t cool enough to hang out with all of us. Many of my friends to this day still claim my sister to be a loser or a nerd by her spending the weekends studying all day long or watching marathons of star trek. They think that it is weird for me to hang out with my sister and even tell me that having my sister as my best friend is super lame and that I need to find someone who is not a family member to be my best friend. My sister and I continuously get into fights every day around the house. We blame each other for everything that goes wrong, anywhere from who ate the last piece of cake to who put a hole trough my favourite shirt. Most of the time they turn out to be neither of our faults, but we still continue to blame each other. We call each other names and occasionally break out into a physical fights with my parents always responding with “when will you two get along”. My family believes that me and my sister will never get along and my friends believe that she will always be my little annoying sister who will steal my clothes, embarrass me around others, follow me around, and continuously get on my …show more content…
When perceived this way, they fail to realize that the best type of friends are the siblings you grow up along side of. With lots of friends believing that hanging out with your younger sibling is uncool, they decline to understand that a younger siblings defines who you are and can actually be a great friend. A sibling that gets on your nerves, embarrasses you, steals your things, and someone you constantly fight with, can actually be a huge part of who you are and who you become. My sister can be an annoying sometimes but that does not change the amount of her vital importance to me. She has developed to be more then just my younger sibling who I fight with, but someone who contributes to who I am and has more meaning then just my little sister. Even though my sister is perceived as a nerd or someone who I will never get along with, she in fact is someone who means more to me then anyone in this world. She has had a huge impact on my life compared to any friend I will ever have and this gives me the great reason to celebrate her as my
When a person's faith is also an alternative for their culture and morals, it proves challenging to take that sense of security in that faith away from them. In Night, Elie Wiesel, a Jewish student living in Sighet, Transylvania during the war of 1942, uses his studies in Talmud and the Kabbalah as not only a religious practice but a lifestyle. Elie and his fellow civilians are warned, however, by his Kabbalah teacher who says that during the war, German aggressors are aggregately imprisoning, deporting, and annihilating millions of Jews. When Elie and his family are victim of this aggression, Elie realizes how crucial his faith in God is if he is to survive the Holocaust. He vows after being separated from his mother and sisters that he will protect he and his father from death, even though as death nears, Elie gradually becomes closer to losing his faith. In the end, to Elie's devastation, Elie makes it out of the Holocaust alone after his father dies from the intense seclusion to malnutrition and deprivation. Elie survives the Holocaust through a battle of conscience--first by believing in God, then resisting his faith in God, and ultimately replacing his faith with obligation to his father.
Night by Elie Wiesel and Life is Beautiful share common themes. Both of these stories take place during the Holocaust, which was when Hitler wanted to annihilate all of the Jews. One theme they both share is father-son “bonding”. In both stories, 2 of the main characters are the father and son who are both going through the Holocaust. Another theme is silence. There are times in both Night and Life is Beautiful that silence plays a key role. A third theme between the two is innocence. Elie was very young when he entered into the concentration camps. Joshua is even younger when he goes through the Holocaust.
Most would say that I have a bubbly personality or that I am a ray of sunshine. My sister on the other hand, at first would be described as quieter and keeps to herself. However, when you really get to know her she can talk a mile a minute and is super outgoing. My sister is as bright as a light bulb; her favorite subject is math and to her, chemistry is a piece of cake. I often find myself envying how school comes so naturally to her and sometimes I wish I could just steal her brains. When we were little we were super close. I remember we would always wake up at an absurd time on Saturday to play games or watch Disney Channel together. We were best friends and could never be separated. However, as we both got older, we started to grow distant and talked to each other less. We got in more fights and I thought she was getting meaner and that her personality was as hard as nails. I felt she was always too busy to talk to me or that she never cared about my feelings. On the contrary, my sister started to view me as a thorn in her side. She felt that I was constantly bothering her and that I was too young to understand or to be able to play with her. When she was in highschool and I was in middle school we barely saw each other due to different after school activities and different schedules. There was a time when we only talked in the car because that was the only time we saw each
It seems that every sibling doesn’t always have a great relationship with their older or younger siblings. In the movie “Real Women Have Curves”, we have two sisters, Anna and Estella, who seem not to get along in the beginning because of their differences, but at the end they become the best of friends because they have similar dreams and learn to support each other. The advantage of Anna and Estella’s relationship is that they benefit from each other. The whole story is that you don’t always realize how much you have in common with your siblings until you realize that you have similar dreams and can be there for each other.
I came across a study done by researchers that concluded that siblings actually subconsciously strive to be different from one another. I feel siblings want to be different from each other because we want to stand out to our parents and be seen as the “golden child”. My brothers used to tease me insensitively calling me a suck up and making me feel inferior to them just because I didn’t follow in their careless actions. This is because I saw how infuriated it made my moth...
Melinda was my absolute best friend. And I ruined it. We did everything together. Anything either of us did, the other one did the same. From soccer, to pink nail polish, to simply what we ate for lunch. I ruined it. She went through everything with me: thick and thin. I ruined it. I should’ve known. The night of the party. That’s when it all happened. I should’ve went to find her in the woods because I knew she was drunk. I saw her running back to the house like something had happened to her. I saw her take her phone out of her pocket. I saw her hit three numbers. I saw her put her phone up her to ear. When the police showed up I automatically assumed the worst. I had assumed that Melinda called the cops on the party to get it shut down. I never even once thought that there
My sister and I are a few years apart from each other, like most kids are. Over the years we have grown to be much more alike, unlike our childhood we were not alike at all. When I was younger I loved going to the park, riding bike all around town unlike my sister and her friends they did more of the sitting around the house stuff, but we both loved going camping and canoeing with our parents. We actually did stuff together often when we were young, like staying at home on weekends
“It started on halloween night 2015, I was 13. I lived in a white house. It was three stories with big colorful flowers covering it in the summer. We had a big yard about eight acres. My room was painted orange and I had a pumpkin cover for my bed. But my mom made me put it away for christmas. But everything I had all my earrings were Halloween it was crazy. I went to school at Jacksonville middle school. It was a good school with a nice clean gym new bright red lockers. My friends were Ariel and Victoria, Ariel had long red hair with bright blue eyes and light skin she was also 13 years old. Victoria had jet black hair with big chocolate brown eyes that pleaded with compassion, she was also 13 and all three of us were
She used to always help me with my schoolwork and help me study for tests. Once she was gone, I had nobody to help me with this because my parents were always busy. Whenever I had questions on a certain topic of schoolwork, I just had to try and figure it out for myself which did not always work. This often led to me not understanding questions on a lot of homework, and getting a lot of questions wrong on tests. I started getting worse grades on tests, quizzes, and homework than before. Not only this, but I got worse grades on exams as well. This caused my semester grades to go down. Due to my sister leaving and me having to lean on myself for schoolwork help, my grades started going down, negatively impacting my
Many people come in and out of your life in what some people call “seasons”. Some staying for little fractions while others stay for years. As for siblings, you can get them for the long hall. In an ideal case getting to grow up and being raised together in the same home. You attend majority of the same exciting as well as boring events together that come in life. You get to sit around the dinner table, take long road trips, laugh while the other gets in trouble, and simply just do life together. Having a sister to do all that with or to even have is very unique and special. Well any sibling for that matter. Unique and special because first off you do not have the initial control to choose to be in this person’s life or choose them to be in
I have three siblings along with three nephews. I have a younger sister, older sister, and one older brother. My older sister is the one that had my nephews. We all lived under the same roof until I moved out for college. My mother was more like my father in the house because my father was away working for us, and even though my siblings are her children, it seems that they 're her siblings too. It felt that I was the parent of my nephews and little sister because of the way I had to care for them because everyone else was working. I connect with my immediate family firmly. We always look out for each other because we mean so much to one another. I
Siblings should always there for each other, willing to drop anything to help one another. Having a strong bond between siblings is one that can never be replaced. Even through tough times, siblings can overcome their differences. Most importantly, siblings provide each other with a built-in best friend. These are all important principles for a good sibling. I believe I am a good sister because I fit the criteria for what every sibling should meet.
One day in the midst of summer, my friend Mike and I got off from a hard day of work and were on our way to the mall. While at work we had planned to meet a few people there. I was going to be seeing my friend Jessica who I had not talked to in years. Before leaving, we stopped off at our houses, took showers, and got ready. As I anxiously waited on the stairs for his car to roll into the driveway, my mom said, “Be careful and do not drive like an idiot.” I obviously said alright and she was on her way. Minutes later I see my friend Mike pull into the driveway. I slipped my feet into my shoes and got in his car. We were almost to the mall when his phone rang. He picked it up and said, “Hello?” It was my mom and she wanted to speak to me. Upon putting the phone to my ear she told me that I had to come home right away. She said that my dad had just gotten into a car crash and that I had to come home and watch my sister. I did not know how to break the news to Mike, that what we were anticipating all day would not happen. He was upset, but he understood what was going on. I came home thinking it was the same old same old; he had gotten hit by a drunk driver, the car got totaled, and he was fine.
It was December 4, 2014 and it was snowing outside. I was sitting at the kitchen table doing homework. All my family was downstairs, so I was all alone. My English teacher told us to write a paper about how I am different from my classmates. I was thinking about what in my life makes me different and slowly my whole life was playing like a movie in my head. The first memory that popped into my head was my fourth birthday party. It was supposed to be the best birthday ever. My dad was going to come. It was February 24, 2002 at my birthday party. There were so many people there, but I was so focused on my dad coming, no one else seemed to matter. My cake was pink and yellow with a bicycle on it. I had a red and blue inflatable that kids were
Everyone has a memorable unforgettable moment in their life time and will charish that momement as long as they live. I am one of those many with a memorable loving moment. I will never forget it and happy to share it with others. It has been one of many favorite moment in my life. That it even open my heart to be happy and always thankful.
