Descriptive Coursework Raised on my father’s shoulders, my face was overcome with excitement. Me as a small girl felt immense love and tenderness towards him. As our eyes gazed into each other’s, “When will the fireworks start?” I asked my father curiously. He responded with “soon”, his answer was met with warmth and reassurance. I kept quiet whilst waiting impatiently; the long gaze at my father’s watch agitated me to a greater extent. The incessant sound of a tapping shoe frustrated me, the silence that followed was deafening. In one moment all of my anger, agitation and frustration melted away. Then, once a black empty patch of sky was now filled with colours and delight; the magnificent fireworks painted this ebony canvas, with its marvellous strokes. The squeal of more fireworks exploding engaged the crowd further as the “ooed” and “awed” in unison. The hypnotised gaze, the crowd had glued on their faces, was now dispossessed. The feeling of agony, due to the fireworks ending, was slowly fading away. I took a deep breath and stepped down from my father’s shoulders with reluctance. The adrenaline was killed in the air. Claps and regret followed what will be called, an unforgettable experience. The depressed faces in the crowd were soon overcome with acceptance. The once magnificent, sky was gloomy again. Slowly, the ash cloud disappeared; leaving its brilliance in the air; similarly, the stars were now dancing in the sky reminding us that this exuberant display was over. The long, agonising walk back to the car left me utterly distraught. As I turned around to say goodbye to the fireworks my heart sank; realising, that the joy I had for those breath taking moments will never meet me
