Demi Lovato is the daughter of Patrick Lovato and Dianna Lovato. She casted in a few television shows and one of it was “Camp Rock” from Disney musical TV movie (2006) which was the starting point of her singing career. Her first single “Get Back” was released in 2008, and 2 years later, Lovato released her second album “Here We Go Again” which rated first on Billboard Hot 200. However in 2010, Lovato has been diagnosed with nervous breakdown and she went for rehab in order to treat her severe depression, cutting, anorexia and bulimia. A year later, Lovato recovered and got out of the rehab centre. After returning from treatment, she quit her Disney show “Sonny with a Chance” in order to focus solely on production of her third album, “Unbroken” which was released approximately 8 months after her recovery. One of the most remarkable singles in “Unbroken” was "Skyscraper" in which the song narrates Lovato’s struggle in combating her inner demons, and her persistence in overcoming problems. Later on, Lovato took part in various campaign that raises awareness against bulimia, body image and self-cutting issues. Her hard work paid off where she gained recognitions for assisting her peers in overcoming the same problems she had went through. “Skyscraper” was also debuted at No. 10 on Billboard, and this song is Lovato's first top 10 debuts on the Hot 100 Billboard chart and her second top 10 title overall (Collar). It was written by Toby Gad, Lindy Robbins and Kerli Kõiv and produced by Gad. The inspiration of the song came from a picture of the apocalypse, in which the world was in ruins and among collapsed buildings, one skyscraper was still standing. Her song is related to the reality, in which the lyrics enable listeners to realize the cruelty of the real world, and to take the first step towards success. Lovato has shown that music can have a profound impact on people and can help them get through obstacles in their life. Demi Lovato teaches her listeners about struggles and hardships in society. Her lyrics implant hope, in which, in the future will positively transform a person’s life. Last but not least, Lovato’s music also urges people to be strong in countering their fears and achieve success through persistence.
