Hopefulness and confidence about the future or the successful outcome of something. This is the definition of optimism according the the internet. This one word describes how we feel about our future in a happy, hopeful way. Most of us have optimism during certain parts of our life. Whether that is confidence about passing a test or achieving one of your goals. Different from optimistic, some people are pessimistic, or negative about their future. In contrast, they think that they aren’t going to pass or a test, or achieve a goal. People who are pessimistic won’t be determined, happy, confident, or hopeful about anything they or the world wants to achieve. They just look at the negative things, never getting anything done.
Now, the world and what it gains from this word, optimism. Take for example, the women’s march that happened on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Women and men gathered in various places to protect the rights of women, to be equal. What do you think drove them to do this? Optimism! The world gains the courage to go after their achievements through optimism. Another example is Martin Luther King Jr. He made his dream come true. Do you think he was pessimistic about his dream?
