Love is a strong beautiful feeling of affection towards someone. Love is something that has different meanings based on how different people view it. It is the base of friendship and harmony. Some people think love is purely romantic or even purely sexual, other say true and unconditional love only exists between family members or related people. Others say love is ever changing; it can be love for partners, objects, family and friends, or even fictional characters. None of them is wrong or right because love is a universal theme. Following various quotes from Nicholas Sparks in his novel, The Notebook, we can see that different generations, cultures or stages of life have their unique way of expressing love.
Love is a universal theme experienced by many people throughout the history, and every culture in the whole world. However, love displays itself differently because there has been found a significant impact of culture on people’s conception of love and the way they behave, think or feel in a relationship (Karandashev 3).
