Good and evil are more connected to each other than what people give them credit for. Good coexists with evil and there can be no good unless there is also an evil. Something that benefits a society would be considered good. On the other hand, if it does not benefit a society, it would be considered evil. The term good and evil can be associated with whatever a person sets their moral to be.
When a person finds joy in something, they call it good. On the other hand, if it brings them agony, they call it evil. Good and evil can mean whatever people want you to think they mean. What is good to one person can be evil to another person. For instance, a soldier that goes to war for his country will be viewed as a hero. But the wives and children of the men that the soldier killed will view him as an evil person. No one really knows the true meaning of good and evil. All everyone really knows are just the world’s opinion on what good and evil really are.
Good can mean to be considerate for other people or to put their needs before your own. Good is doing something beneficial to help out someone in need. It can be based solely on the love, bonding, and affection that begin at the earliest stages of personal development. If a child is raised only being taught the good, then when they get older they will only know good. People grow up to be the people they are because of their childhood. The things you learn as a youth stay with you for the rest of your life.

(Amos 5:15) states “Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the Lord God almighty will have mercy.” God is trying to send a message that he does not support evil in any type of way. The phrase “Hate Evil” should tell everyone exactly how much the Lord frowns upon evil. He supports good more than anything. In my opinion, the Lord wants us to live in peace with each other, not start senseless wars over greed and kill handful of his children. Everything used to be a scrambled puzzle to me as far as what god has planned for me in this lifetime. I lost a lot of sleep over the years and almost my mind trying to figure out that one thing. It is still a puzzle to me what god has in store for me, but I do know I was put on this planet to help others when they can’t help themselves.
Good and evil make the world we are living in today. However evil stands out more than good and people tend to focus on the evil behavior of humans more often. Human nature tends to decide that if someone looks evil they will be evil. The good and the bad make up the goodness in life. The difference in the way humans perceive things is part of the complexity of mankind. What is thought of as evil to one person can be seen as good to another, and vice versa. The issue of good and evil is brought up in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, when innocent boys are set on an island to bear the weight of society on their backs. What happens to them? How do past influences effect them? Are their actions good or evil? The actions of the boys were not a matter of being good or evil, but were actions for survival. A man’s environment does not influence him towards good or evil, nor is he born with it inside. Man has instincts and inner drives that are not matters of good and evil, but of survival.
