It’s been over 225 years and we still question the definition of equality today. How long will it take, how many new definitions for people to be satisfied? To every new century lies a different generation with a new view or definition of equality. Instead of redefining equality, we should try and get a better understanding of what “equality” means. The word, equality can represent several measurements but has only one definition. Equality (equal or equally) means a group of different objects, person, processes or circumstance that has the same qualities in at least one respect, but not all respects. When the Declaration of Independence wrote all men to be created equal, it means that all human beings, regardless of religion, sex, or skin color, should receive the same natural rights not equal in all aspects of life. The Founders were aware that different people were not equal in physical and mental capacities. But no matter how different people may be that they are never so great as to deprive them of their rights. No matter how smart or driven he or she may be, the will not have the rights to rule others. Political equality means asserts that even though no two citizens are biologically equal all have equal authority to vote on every law and policy of their society. Only those who have this equality live with their own decisions - and are free (Principle of Political Equality (PPE). (n.d.)).Economic equality is about a level playing field where everyone has the same access to the same wealth (Economic Equality. (n.d.)). Social concerns the distribution of social goods and burdens, such as income, wealth, opportunity, education, and health care (SOCIAL EQUALITY. (n.d.)). Both social and economic equality can only be obtain at the cost of political equality because people are different in ability, intelligence, and many other ways it follows that, with liberty, people also will be different in income and wealth.
