Every large organization has its own way to deal with “Stress”. This case explains the Genentech way of dealing stress. Genentech is the first biotech company and was founded in 1976 by Dr. Herbert W. Boyer, a biochemist, and Robert A. Swanson, a venture capitalist. Like any other major large corporation Genentech aspired to be the leading biotechnology company. It has been recognized to be a very people friendly company for its Human resources policies and its human therapeutics.
In 2007, Genentech CEO Arthur Levinson, wanted to make his company a great place to work and recognized by the industry and magazines. This desire made Genentech adapt some culture that helped the employees to reduce stress and made the company one of the top 100 companies to work in lot of US magazines. The leadership team, management, practices and their policies has made them one of the best places to work. They inspire their employees to work hard by recognizing each ones contribution. There are programs that provide employees with a unique workplace as well as diverse opportunities to enhance their personal learning. The company helps them to achieve personal and professional goals and enable them to manage the difficult task of work-life balance. The company also promotes the emotional connection of the employees and the patient that inspires them to work harder and gives them a boost in their creativity and a satisfaction in life. ...es needs and programs that reduce stress at workplace have proved to be the key factor in Genentech’s success. Working in a larger biotech company, Amgen I can relate to all these programs. In my company some of these programs work well but since the company is twice as big as Genentech some of the programs are not sustainable.
It would be a dream-come true for any employee to work in an ideal company with no stress.

My current employer, Mayo Clinic, is a world renowned not-for-profit hospital that has been established for 150 years. Mayo Clinic is the first and biggest integrated not-for-profit medical group practice in the world and is a well-known brand name that is recognized world-wide. Working for an organization where the primary value is the needs of the patient come first, the organizations domain is held to a higher standard. The mission statement is to encourage hope and contribute to health and well-being by providing the best care to all patients through integrated clinical practice, education and research (Strategic statement of Mayo Clinic, 2012). The vision statement is that Mayo Clinic will offer an unparalleled experience as the most trusted partner for health care (Strategic statement of Mayo Clinic, 2012). In the medical field, innovations, research and technology motivate the business to perform and deliver care in a new standard. Mayo Clinic has a logo of three shields that are interlocked, presenting patient care, research and education.

As we learn from the case study, the Lincoln Electric Company is the largest global manufacturer of machines for welding, which are used in all kinds of construction projects. This means that the company has a large global presence and many employees, so its culture affects thousands of its workers. Even though it is now 2014, the company still has a large market share and very satisfied employees, so clearly the culture leaves employees satisfied and motivates them to work hard for the company.
The company’s approach to motivate employees has been working in a positive way. The employees are satisfied with the family style community, and the productivity has increased as well. The company’s style of treating employees as important partners has been successful in other manufacturing companies too. For example, when Honda opened its first factory in the U.S., the CEO and employees shared the same cafeteria, just like Lincoln.

According to the current World Health Organization's (WHO) definition, occupational or work-related stress is the response people may have when presented with work demands and pressures that are not matched to their knowledge and abilities and which challenge their ability to cope.In the following experiment we will explore specifically workplace stressors among various teams in BITS Embryo with the help of a questionnaire and a few statistical parameters.

Stress is a common factor in all of our daily lives. Learning to manage stress can be life changing and be very useful in both our personal and work environments. Stress can be caused by many different situations, such as family problems, work problems, finances, deadlines, information overload, unhealthy eating, lack of exercise, public speaking, trust issues, friendships, and so on. Stress is defined as, “an adaptive response, mediated by individual characteristics and/or psychological processes, that is a consequence of any external action, situation, or event that places special physical and/or psychological demands upon a person” (Kreitner and Kinicki, p.551). Stress triggers are different for different people. Although we would like to avoid stress, it is impossible. We need stress in our lives in order to stay alive and help us make quick decisions in life or death situations. Stress can actually be a good thing such as eustress, stress that is good or produces a positive outcome. When a person experiences stress it causes one of two reactions, fight or flight, which allows us to make the decision to either accept the situation or run away. According to Kreitner and Kinicki , “Physiologically, this stress response is a biochemical “passing gear” involving hormonal changes that mobilize the body for extraordinary demands” ( p.550). The main point is we cannot avoid stress; stress is good for us to a certain extent. Our efforts need to be aimed at managing stress and learning to live with and embrace it.

Stress is a major concern in today’s society. Stress is linked to many different ailments as well as fatigue and many other physical symptoms. Physicians have proven that stress is very dangerous, attributing to diseases and a shorter life span. Some kind of stress management is recommended in order to help one deal with their stress so it doesn’t consume them.
“Stress is a silent disease” (Doctor Hobel). Over the years, stress has played a major rule in a large majority of people’s lives throughout the United States. When thought about, it is said to be extremely surprising as to how many people really have stress in each individual’s life. People do not consider what the reasons are for the feelings and emotions they experience. There are all different types of stress, and stress can do a lot to a person. Each person also handles stress in a different way. Some can handle more than others, because every single person’s body works in a different way. Stress has also been told to cause people to act out of character (Dr. David Posen). They often do not act the way they usually would while under stress as they would if they were not under stress. Often times self control can fail to conquer when individuals are under stress and this can cause people to turn to addiction, abuse, or even have self destructive behavior. Stress is a huge problem in our country; that of which is underestimated.
