What really is the reason for Daylight Saving Time? Is it truly necessary in the present day? If it’s so important, then why doesn’t everyone do it? Daylight Saving time may have started for a logical reason, but data has shown that those reasons no longer exist. It does not save energy, is not safer for traffic and is not safer for children to go to school. The actual timing of the change has changed many times over the years. If it was working so well, why have to change it so much? Also, if it works so well, then why doesn’t everyone do it? Daylight Savings time causes sleep deprivation in people, issues for businesses who deal with other businesses and customers all over the world and can be harmful to humans. There are other solutions to allow for the added sunlight hours that would not involve the negative effects of Daylight Saving time. Those that believe Daylight Saving Time should continue argue that the extra sunlight saves energy, makes driving safer as well as makes it safer for kids to go to school. Having some more sunlight is not worth harm to humans or their safety especially if that extra light does not also benefit the community. Places around the world fall back or spring forward on different days. This can mess up businesses like airplanes that need to schedule all over the world (Jacobs and, Finley). Many thought farmers would like the extra sunlight but actually the farmers were against it because it would give them less time to do their chores such as milk the cows (Waxman).
