Dave Mathews Band has been successful in engaging their fans with riveting performances for the past 21 years and counting. No matter what the measuring scale is, they have always been able to give their fans an infatuated performance. Dave Mathews Band epitomizes an American Rock band. It started in the early 90’s with an eclectic mix of musicians complementing to the enthused version of music. The band was initially led by Dave Mathews- the song writer, vocalist and guitarist, Carter Beauford- back vocalist and drummer, Steffan Lessard-bassist, Leroi Moore- saxophonist and Boyd Tinsley-violinist but after the death of Leroi Moore in 2008, Bela Fleck and The Fleck Stones filled his spot. Whilst startling and exciting audience with music, the band launched its first studio album ‘Under The Table Dreaming’ which has been certified six times Platinum. With an auspicious start, DMB received its first Grammy nomination in 1996 for ‘What Would You Say’ for the Best Vocal Performance and Best Music Video. Crash debuted at number two on The Billboard 200. “Too Much” was among the Top 5 hit songs at the Modern Rock radio. It was the first song in a succession of singles from the album. The video sold over a million copies. The band spent most of the year 2000 touring and ended as the year’s top-grossing rock band in US. DMB introduced sold-out audiences to songs from ‘Everyday’, released in February, 2001 and debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200.
During 2002 Olympic Winter Games, the band commenced the Hallmark Olympics Celebration series of concerts. It performed “The Space Between,” which got nominated for Best Rock Vocal Performance at the GRAMMY Awards for the same year.
In their summer tour of 2003, they performed for more than 100,000+fans and raised $2 million for public education and parks in NYC. They also assisted creating The New Orleans Habitat Musicians’ Village by donating $1.5 million. One of band’s hit songs, “Gravedigger,” was entitled with a GRAMMY Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. After the huge success of Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King which was debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200, Dave Mathews Band became the second band in chart history to attain five consecutive studio albums reach over the top chart.
