Human temptation is a journey through a dark path that we have at least grazed and learn how to be better people. Dante learns a lesson throughout his journey, even from the very beginning when he wakes up in the dark wood. Dante’s Dark Wood of Error represents not only the immorality of the world through which each of us must venture, but also the vulnerability we exhibit to the temptations of the world. These temptations are shown through the leopard which represents greed and need to be superior, and the escape from these is represented by the greyhound which represent salvation of temptation and the burning mountain which represents a bittersweet relief of temptation. “Until the Greyhound 21 Comes, who shall make her perish in her pain. He shall not feed on either earth or pelf” (Dante Canto 1) This Greyhound represents safety and hope. It helps us find the path after darkness, darkness representing the bad deeds that we have committed due to the nature of human temptation. But keep in mind it may be hard to find a Greyhound but there always there hiding. Final example is The Burning Mountain “I had reached a mountain’s foot, at that point where the valley terminated, Which had with consternation pierced my heart, Upward I looked, and I beheld its shoulders, Vested already with that planet’s rays, Which leadeth others right by every road.”(Dante Canto 1). In the book it does not claim fire or burning directly but through allegory we deduct from the planet’s rays that it is hot. The burning mountain is where the the sinner have a chance to repent their sins. But this is a result from human temptation. If a person submisses to this way of life or way they either end up lost completely or they have a chance of forgiveness. It is no fun and games it is pain but if you cause pain you deserve pain back. Another piece from the quote is when it states “Which leadeth others right by every road.” (Dante Canto 1) to me this states that there is always a chance to go the right way. I can deduce this by they way it is stated “which leadeth others” as in
