A question that has been lingering around for some time is how dangerous are concussions in football? This question and topic is complex, problematic, and significant. It is complex because concussions are an injury that has many different symptoms and effects. The question is problematic because concussions happen all the time in football and people have tried to prevent them but they still happen to often. It is significant because concussions can be life changing and be very dangerous towards one’s health after football. The question is kairotic because football is America's favorite sport and concussions are occurring more and more. Secondly, the question is exigent because concussions are a serious problem that draws attention on how to reduce them in football. Players endure several injuries to the head in which puts tremendous future plans and ideas in a complete setback. Concussions are defined as a complex pathophysiological process that affects the brain, typically induced by trauma to the brain. It can be caused either by a direct blow to the head, or an indirect blow to the body, causing neurological impairments that may resolve spontaneously. Examples of the injury includes loss of brain function leading to cognitive, physical and emotional symptoms, such as confusion, vomiting, headache, nausea, depression, disturbed sleep, moodiness, and amnesia. I experienced a concussion in my last high school football game which was on senior night it was so heartbreaking when I experienced the head throbbing hit, I instantly blanked out on the sidelines.
